Key Matchup: Van Roten vs. Donald

Look for Wade Phillips to exploit this mismatch.  However, the Panthers SURELY have a plan to help VR.  I expect to see a lot of Manhertz beside Williams (so Williams can block down) or I expect to see Armah in the backfield with only one job--taking the first blue helmet that emerges from the OL left.

Manhertz makes the most sense, but we shall see how they deal with it---hopefully Ron had flashbacks of Von Miller in Super Bowl 50 eating Remmer's lunch this week and realizes that you cannot ignore a mismatch up front.

On the other hand, a solid run game and quick passes are the key for the offense.

Nobody has talked about this much--i have simply said our LG situation bothers me more than LT---Van Roten is key to our success today if left one-on-one with the Don.

Yeah id say thats an important matchup

And this is exactly why im not giving this staff a pass if this cost us in the long run. How do you go threw the entire off season and dont think LG needs to be upgraded?  Van roten is a legit backup has no business starting in the league and oh wait you play the best damn interior linemen in the league week one. Wade Phillips lined up von miller on remmers in the superbowl for a reason.  Expect the see same today, this coaching staff is just unbelievable.

More like the key matchup is Van Roten and whatever other lineman that will be helping him every snap vs. Donald

He should never have a 1 on 1 battle with Donald

Aaron donald vs anyone single coverage is a mismatch.

    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
    • The Jets and Bill's are statistically worse
