For those of you who say that Allen didn’t play against Saint’s starters.

Here is some great work by our guy Ellis.  Take a look at these breakdowns of Allen.  The Saints starting defense was in the entire first half.  Go look and see for yourself.  Find me a backup? And they were blitzing.    Allen put up a up a ton of points in the first half.  The second half the Saints had their 2nd string in.  Allen didn’t do much in the second half but he didn’t half to up 30 points.  They had Armah in the game and running the ball a ton.

Im hoping for more of the same from Allen against the cards.

He could totally bomb on Sunday. It’s a real possibility.

But the idea that he didn’t play against top level competition on his first start is ridiculous. The crowd was loud as hell, they were blitzing 5/6 defenders. Tight man coverage.

They got thoroughly embarrassed in that first half. And their coach wasn’t happy about it.

Again, it doesn’t mean he’ll do any better this week. I just don’t think the game is too big for him at this point.

He is probably going to take a huge steaming mud pie on Sunday, but the slim chance he does well has me .03% hopeful

One game against an unmotivated Saints team, starters playing or not, isn’t much to get excited about.

It’s prob gonna be Jimmy Clausen level bad tho

Most were too busy complaining that we were winning

That godly genius Sean Payton throwing the game JUST to tank our draft pick, by...playing 95% of his starters for a large chunk of a meaningless game...and...sending 5-6 man blitzes against an UFA rookie QB behind a suspect o-line...and stuff...

there were starters, but the saints hadn't installed any specific defense

he was basically playing against the defense you pick in madden when you just hit x really fast 7 times

This is just ignorant.  So let’s practice all week, prepare to play in front of our home crowd, risk injury to the majority of our starters, only to run defensive plays that really aren’t a part of a strategy to win.  LOL.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
