This D is going to be really special this year.

If we can prevent big gap runs, I think this defense could be historically good.

I know Pats have a weak schedule but my god their D is ridiculously good right now.

I want a Pats vs Panthers SB with us getting revenge!

Beating the Pats in the Superbowl is my dream scenario.

It almost feels like Ron has said “screw run defense, we are all in on defending the pass because that is how offenses are putting up points”

The Packers look like they are doing something similar and the Eagles finally adjusted in the 2nd half against them and ran all over them in their comeback.

It has worked well for us so far. Teams have been able to run against us but it really hasn’t led to many points. Interested to see what Jax and Fournette do. He just had a huge game against the Broncos.

That is my biggest concern!

I do not mind letting another team rack up rushing yds against us, but the explosive runs concern me.

Like how LF did against the Broncos.

Given how the NFL is so geared towards passing these days, this seems like a reasonably workable approach for the most part. Passes that give up big chunks of yards are far more common than runs that do.

Well we have something the Packers don’t. Luke Kuechly. I think Ron trusts Luke to limit those and prevent their big runs from overwhelming us.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
