Was certainly a different crew.

On top of some of the posters these days coming off as 14 year old fans, I'm guessing a lot of the old guys just have too much going on in life.

I miss Panthro and Scrum.

I saw Kurb posted once a couple weeks ago. First time I’ve seen in years. Panthro posts in the tinderbox from time to time. I really liked Magnus and some of the old school posters I read. I learned a lot about football from them.

Ha, I see Kurb more in real life than I do on here.

Then what was the point of this thread and showing numbers of players that aren't Kyle Allen?

It is useful because this board seems to have forgotten how frequently young quarterbacks have miscues of one sort or another.

We've been really lucky to rely on Cam this long, and hopefully we will be able to again soon.

All QBs have miscues of one sort or another. I don't believe that people here have forgotten that young players typically take time to develop. I pointed out the pace that he was on at the moment and was told more or less don't do that because that isn't how things will play out. I then asked what is the point of comparing Kyle Allen to them if we weren't going to use stats despite the basis of the OP being completely on stats. This same board was crowing Kyle a clear Cam replacement after one game against an awful pass defense where he threw for 4 TDs. You are your stats. And right now his stats say he is a fumbling machine. I am rooting for the kid. I would love to see us beat Tampa with him. I expect to. I also expect him to put a ball on the ground again.

I'd love to see his quarter by quarter numbers.

just eyeballing it, Allen is the worst in the 1st....and best in the 4th.

I think he is making clutch throws in the 4th for sure.  sample size is really too small to judge his quarters IMO, but statistically 2nd/3rd are his best in his career.  but I don't think we can draw any conclusion from that.

I wonder why though? Is it early game nerves?

He just seems dialed in for the 4th. Idk, every QB is diff. I rather a slow start with fast finish then a fast start and a fizzle ending.

I guess if we can't project anything about Allen's stats in order to compare them to the stats and "analysis" given in the first post...what are we supposed to discuss?

Of course Allen will have miscues and mess ups as a rookie starter.  I don't think anyone suggested otherwise.  People have just generally stated Cam Newton will get his starting job back when he returns healthy.  That Allen's current play does not solidify him as a starter over a healthy Cam.

I find it interesting how quickly we are circling the wagons to protect Allen's reputation.  When he had a good game against the Cards, it was "QB Controversy", "replacing a healthy Cam", and "its not because he played a bad team".  Now that he is getting a solid 200 yards a game on what.. 55% passing, while fumbling 2-3 times a game we have to constantly make excuses.

No one expects Allen to be perfect.  I think people are generally excited we have a back up able to *not lose* games for us.  Because that is Allen's job.  Not to play so bad that he is the reason we lose.  Lean on CMC and the Defense.  And there is nothing wrong with that.  That is your back ups job.

Allen needs to work on ball security for damn sure or he wont be playing for anyone.

That said Newtons fumbles cost us the Super Bowl. Also cost us the Rams game fumbling leading to 7 for them. He fumbled vs Bucs as well.

So if only by luck we havent lost because of Allen's fumbles.

SHOW US WHO THE QBS ARE

Tired Over It GIF by Desus & Mero

I need closure D:

Okay...now.

QB1: Andrew Luck
QB2: Baker Mayfield
QB3: Cam Newton
QB4: Jake Delhomme
QB5: Josh Allen
QB6: Kurt Warner
QB7: Mark Sanchez
QB8: Peyton Manning
QB9: Tom Brady
QB10: Tony Romo

I've included three or four undrafted QBs because Allen was undrafted, but also some high picks for balance.

Was originally gonna include Jimmy Clausen but the decision to use two years worth of stats knocked that out (9 and 9, for the curious).
