Someone else thinks Allen keeps the job

Pretty interesting read. Seems to be a decent number of GM’s who think the Panthers could get a lot for Newton, others who think he’s done. Also doesn’t seem to be much question that Allen is nowhere close to a healthy Cam... and that’s the question... can he stay healthy.

This will piss people off, trade Cam for the value we could get a 1st or 2nd for him.

It frees up cap space to resign the General and Shaq.

Cap space for quality FA players or to build up future rollover.

I was told back in August that 28 out of the 31 other teams would trade for Cam in a heartbeat.  I knew they were just speaking emotionally and doubt there would be over a half dozen the way it sits currently.  If he comes back and we have a full blown QB controversy, then right before the draft might be possible.  I just don't see it in the next couple of weeks.  The extra draft picks and money would be nice however

If we somehow we knew Cam will never be 100% and we have bites, even for a 3rd you pull the lever.

IF KA is consistent and continues to deliver good balls w/o TOs, we could be entering a new period of success under Ron.

Resign your draft and developed talent like Bradberry/Shaq/Butler/Obada/Moton.

We could get a head start on Saints in having a solid future.

The best thing that could happen for the team is that we luck in to a new starter that doesnt make Newton money whoever it is. Newton isnt going to get better and hes a career sub 60% passer who's not going to run like he used to. Paying whatever his next contract would be locks us in to more of the same.

This isnt Cam hate. This is the inconvenient reality.

I just don't see how you can put cam in given Kyle's 4-0 start and if he struggles, then what do you do?

Rivera needs to just pretend cam is still injured and ride with Kyle. If he shits the bed against the niners, which actually could be a very plausible scenario given how stout that defense is, then maybe you can start cam week 9

I just don't see how you can start cam and then go back to Kyle. You're creating a qb controversy for no reason and it's just a bad look and quite honestly disrespectful to Kyle and the success he's had this year

If Allen continues to play well, someone is going to PAY him this coming off-season. The only way to get good cheap QBs is to draft them or get plain horseshit lucky in free agency (see: Delhomme, Jake). Then you're still going to have to pay when their next contract is due.

I don't think Kyle Allen has looked good enough that we could feel completely confident in getting rid of Cam. He's been solid an has definitely secured himself a future in the league, but he hasn't shown even glimpses of being a top tier QB.

Agree and disagree. He's made some absolutely phenomenal throws, especially against Arizona and today against the bucs. I'm talking about straight dimes, throws thst I haven't seen cam make in years.

He's also the first qb in NFL history to go 5-0 in his first 5 starts without throwing an int. I mean that's gotta count for something.

He's been a game manager in situations where the defense was playing lights out and he's made crucial throws when his number has been called on.

He's shown poise and confidence, something unforseen in this league from essentially a 23 year old rookie

First QB in the history of the NFL to win his first 5 starts and not throw a pick. I'm not saying Allen is gonna be the next Brady or Manning, but he can absolutely be a top 15 QB if he continues to improve and sharpen his game from where it is now. And where it is now is damn good.

    • Gonna be interesting to watch. All reporting indicates he's gonna be out. From what I'm hearing he's out. The interesting part will be what happens next. The job has been staying within the "family" since Dean retired. But there's no one within the family that makes any sense at all right now. They'll have to go outside the family to hire a coach that's likely to be successful and tension between the school and the basketball family is already high right now with this plot to move the arena to Carolina North because the folks within the basketball family want it to stay at the Dean Dome and they feel misled because they feel like there was never any real consideration of revamping the Dean Dome and this whole evaluation process was just meant to make it look like that was being considered. The best outcome here IMO is that we hire a great coach from outside the family and we revamp the Dean Dome as an olive branch to the family. But the powers that be REALLY want a new arena at Carolina North.
    • yeah outside of 3 shots in a row for arsenal nothing has happened.  I need a quick goal for them and then MC start to press.  Need 2 shots for Arsenal and all 4 still for MC
