Kyle Allen just throws a more catchable ball

Here’s Richard Sherman breaking down his interception on Kyle Allen. I appreciate the nuance. He points out several factors that led up to the play. Pressure, Allen looking them off, dagger concept (film study). It’s never just one guy, or one issue.

Given the fact the team was down by three scores, taking the shallow cross option would’ve been a bit of a pussy move. I’m not satisfied with interceptions, but I’m certainly happy he gave it a shot. That said, there was never anything there. The pressure definitely affected the throat, and he definitely took a risk. But what the hell else are you going to do? Hit the check down and punt?

The offense wasn't good today, but the defense made winning practically impossible. I don't know if an offense has ever existed that would be good enough to go toe to toe with the 49ers up against a very good defense while our defense rolled over and played dead. They're giving up an average of 10.7 points per game while we gave up 51. Oh wee mayne.

We all know you are giddy that Allen finally had a bad game and we lost

The irony in your dogpoo assessment on this comment.

Everyone who has understood kyle to be an amazing backup qb, and has commented as such seems labeled a stan, and is one to root for his failure.

The other side being a ridiculous writing off of a mvp qb, that has played at a high level throughout his career, and now finds himself injured because of the abuse to his body from the result of his dedicative play.

Cam: proven, mvp qb, who has taken this team to a superbowl. Yes, I get it, he had a defense to help him

Kyle: an unproven qb, that has not been asked to win games on his own merits, and has the success generated by CMC.

This arguement is so god damn tiresome.

No same, actual fan of this team is looking for the other guy to look bad, to prove their argument other than the fugtards who keep pushing this nonsense.

No, it doesnt immediately make you a rascist, but it makes you look like a goddamn moron

cam newton has never gotten the benefit of the doubt that kyle allen is receiving here.

cam had to prove everything to be accepted by this fan base. his record shattering rookie season wasn't enough, his come-from-behind wins weren't enough - it took his MVP season to get begrudging admissions, and then "can't even jump on the bawl, cammm" became the hallowed refrain of Everybody Who Knew They Were Right All Along.

kyle allen didn't have to prove anything. all kyle allen has to do was not turn the ball ov- ...er, ride his running back and defense to a narrowly winning record and he gained instant acceptance and enthusiastic cheers of "baby goat" "next tom brady" and "cam who?"

this thread is a rhetorical device to demonstrate that our plucky backup's future prognosis is greatly overstated and is staggeringly different from any prognosis ever afforded cam newton.

There's a lot of truth to this post. I would just add the national media took a similar approach. I'd also add the majority of the fanbase has always loved Cam.

I mean, you're playing to the far ends of the spectrum in a weird time for a seemingly emotional fan base.  I get it but let's be realistic with how the majority is looking at things.  There's a select few who have gone far with their KA love but this is all quite hyperbolic.

Most people clearly see Allen has a limited ceiling but his floor shows he's entirely capable at starting in the league.  He was also a UDFA so we basically lucked into a pretty nice asset with him.  Probably not a franchise QB but a starting option for a season if need be.  When you have virtually no expectations and all of a sudden are the QB on a team clicking/on a streak, you will get attention.  That said QB will get his bandwagoners...they will be vocal, but they aren't the majority.  This is magnifying a minority.

Cam's situation has always been a divisive one among fans, particularly in being a #1 overall pick and the king of college football coming out.  If you aren't used to it by now or yearn to change the opinion of his "haters" or whatever, I don't know what to say, it's been like a decade.
