The most embarrassing thing about this loss

NAS

Our defense was demolished in the run game. I would rather get torched in the air than have someone run at us for 232 yards. That is really embarrassing for a so called top 10 front seven. And its been coming. They’ve looked suspect all season on run defense and Shanahan just exposed the blueprint against this Defense.

I think you have to tip your cap to San Fran's offensive game plan.  They executed nearly perfectly and really kept us off balance.  Every time we got pressure they had the screen dialed up.  The misdirection was insane and again executed perfectly.  It's not that we couldn't athletically compete, it's that we were completely unprepared for how they were going to attack.  Defense was on it heels all day.  This is a coaching/game plan issue.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. Watching their backs just waltz into the end zones untouched is infuriating.

The only people who call our front 7 a top 10 is this board. The people here have Homer goggles on 24/7/365. Any option that differs from their own is met with negativity and poo talking.

run defense has been bad all season long

we're literally 27th in the league in avg rushing yards allowed per game  at 135 per contest. It's a problem that's been apparent well beyond this one game.

These are worth noting as well avg rush yards per game for our opponents :

  • #1 Tampa Bay (69 per game)
  • #2 New Orleans (84)
  • #11 San Francisco (96)
  • #12 Tennesee (97)
  • #14 Los Angeles Rams (97)
  • #15 Seattle (103)
  • #16 Jacksonville (108)
  • #20 Indianapolis (111)
  • #21 Atlanta (118)
  • #24 Green Bay (124)
  • #25 Arizona (130)
  • #28 Washington (138)

So 6 out of our next 9 contests are against teams with middling or bad run Ds. With ATL 2x, Green Bay, and Washington CMC should be salivating.

You can break a team’s entire backbone with that kind of rushing attack. Literally, it’s different than watching your team give up a few bombs over the top. Getting gashed on the ground is just a visceral, demoralizing experience.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
