Definitely the reason he overthrew Samuel

This

WRs havnt helped.  But its a combo of both.

Our WRs struggle to get open and easily shut down with press.  But when they get open more than about 15 yards, Allen struggles to hit them

Allen seems ok between 15-20 yards. looking at passes that travelled more than 10 yards based on eyeballing the nfl advanced stats charts, this is the breakdown (5 yard increments up to 20 yards, then pooled)...

before SF:

10 to 15 yards: 64% (16/25)
16 to 20 yards: 55% (10/18)
21 or more: 33% (4/12)

after SF:

10 to 15 yards: 63% (17/27)
16 to 20 yards: 50% (12/24)
21 or more: 26% (4/15)

note these numbers are not directly comparable to those in the OP because here attempts & completions at 20 yards exactly are part of "16 to 20" rather than "20+."  It also includes the 2018 Saints game (2 long completions).  and this is eyeballed so could be wrong ofc.  but it tracks with what we see in games... he seems able to deliver the ball well really right up to 20 yards.  He has shown he can hit deep balls, but can he do it consistently?  as our backup, it is not necessarily essential he can, but for his growth as a QB, it is an area of significant weakness.

What were the numbers before Sunday? When you're down a mile and a half, you have to pass more. But having the rush get there quickly means no time to pass.

separated out before/after sf...

in SF he actually had trouble completing passes all over the field.  it wasn't just "deep" passes

We went from running 2 TEs on the outside to running to slot WRs on the outside basically...

we revamped our WRs corp for the better but it still suffers from the same issue.  It isn’t diverse and we are missing roles.

Completion % doesn’t actually tell hon the story of what happened on the field.  Some of Kyle’s incompletions have been solid throws downfield.

I've definitely never been a big fan of putting too much stock into completion percentage. There's just too many things that affect it.

Completion percentage was supposed to be one of the things that told you David Carr was good.

Likewise, it's one of those things that's continually been used to try and show that Cam Newton is bad.

As a stat, it's probably more accurately used to evaluate your system than your quarterback.

And Allen is just an OK backup. Those aren't mutually exclusive.

Samuel is on pace for like 800 total yards. While not elite it’s far from trash. The guy you are replying too has a hard time not exaggerating when attempting to communicate with words.

I'm not going to pile on Kyle Allen. I think the guy has held the fort down far better than most anyone ever thought he would. Just ignore the morons trying to crown him as the next Brady simply because they didn't like Cam.

I’m crowning him as next Brady because Cam is injured and he will be our starter in the future, I love Cam but he hasn’t been the same.
