Greg Olsen's Future

With Cam Newton likely done as a Panther, will Greg Olsen come back for another season? Greg is a well known Cam supporter who has said nothing but glowing things about what Cam did for his career. Greg has battled his own foot injury but seems to have come back healthy this season.

Olsen already flirted with retiring this past offseason and joining the broadcast booth. He will be highly sought in the broadcast world, and could probably walk into the MNF booth if he retired tomorrow.

Olsen will be gone at the end of the year.

We fail to make the playoffs=major staff overhaul Rivera, Hurney, etc.

I expect this to be his last year as well.  He had to think real hard about coming back this year.  

All this stuff makes his decision easier

If I were him I would hang it up... plus seems like all they want Olsen to do now is help oline with blocking

I love Olsen, but if we are going to move on from Cam, I don't see where Olsen fits here.  See what Ian Thomas can do with extended time as a the TE1, and sign another veteran to back him up with Manhertz being our blocking TE.

And no, he will be gone like most of the old guard at the conclusion of the season.

This will be Greg’s last year regardless of what happens with Cam imo. And I don’t think we see Cam back either honestly. So this will be a very new team going forward. 

That said, we are actually on a great position. We are loaded with talent. We might have the new NFL MVP running behind a very young and promising Oline. Our defense has a couple of super talented DBs and a bucket load of pass rushers.

Most teams are in store for years of rebuilding when this happens. But we seem to have a chance to rebound very quickly.

I honestly didn't think Olsen was gonna play past this year anyway.

Have you looked at the players that are under contract moving forward?

This team looks to be about ready for a gut job from top to bottom.  I can only see a handful of the old guard sticking around at this point.

This is probably Greg's last season, unless we make a playoff run and he feels like there is a shot to win next year. 

He's got great opportunities in the booth. But I doubt he would retire solely for the fact that Cam is gone.

Oline has a lot of young promise. CMC might be MVP. Samuel and Moore are talented young WRs. Ian Wright has shown flashes. 

Burns is a stud along with many other young and/or inexpensive edge rushers. Bradberry and Jackson are a legit set of CBs. Shaq has stepped up huge this year.

Sure, we have holes. We also have loads of young talent on both sides of the ball. Which was my initial point.

Olsen was done after this season anyway.  If it wasn't for the big paycheck he was due this year, he probably would have retired last year and been in the broadcast booth.  One of my all time favorite Panthers.

CMC is great.

Samuel and Moore are good, but Curtis isn't under contract after next season.

Ian is a hope at this point, nothing more.

Burns is good.

Bradberry and Shaq aren't signed next season, Jackson is up and down but is a playmaker.
