If I’m Tepper I’m telling Rivera he better tank that last Saints game in December

Jesus H Christ it will literally be a repeat of last year, neither us or the Saints will have anything to play for and of course Rivera will screw our draft position yet again by winning. If I’m Tepper, I’m stopping that poo in its tracks.

Im calling Rivera in my office and saying “look you little c%#ksucker, you’re not fugging this organization again with your routine meaningless win to knock us back multiple spots in the draft, practice will be light and you will be playing 2nd and 3rd stringers, hell, you can have a full starting lineup of practice squad players for all I care, but you’re throwing this one.”

Good lord PU.

If I am Tepper and the season continues on its current track I hope he is telling Rivera he is fired not telling him to tank games. Not that Tepper needs to tell Rivera how to tank, he is already good at that. And it may be a lot sooner than the last NO game too.

I never believe in “intentional tanking”. That’s a losers mentality and I doubt grown professional men would elect to tank when their jobs are on the line too. Just play it out. Getting a top ten pick doesn’t guarantee we will draft a stud . Just play to win and let the chips fall as they may

I agree with this in the NFL, because I think fans overemphasize the value of top ten picks vs rest of the draft, but in the NBA, since only one round of the draft matters and your top 3 players are 70% of how good you are, tanking for draft position is just the reality of how you avoid being perpetually stuck in the middle.

Exhibit A: Charlotte Hornets

In all honesty, there is 0 point in going 8-8, or 9-7 neither of which I think is realistic (we are 5-5, and have NO 2x, and ATL at their home)

Add in -- WAS (winnable), SEA & IND

I could see us finishing 6-10 / 7-9 based on the games we have left, I'm not saying tank, I'm saying we can't score enough to finish over .500

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
