Probably not great news for Cam. A far cry from "Cam is our guy and we will build around him".

Writing seems to be on the wall.

Actually sounds like he’s open to keeping him with all the hype around Kyle Allen, and the media actively campaigning against Cam with their ignorant lies. Nice try Jeremy.

Granted, I'm not privy to insider knowledge, and it's certainly not a ringing endorsement, but it does seem like a truly honest answer and not one that insinuates that Cam being gone is a done deal like a like of other media.

Cam controls whether he plays here next season or not.  He either plays out his current contract as written (if he's able to) or he gets released to play somewhere else (if he's able to).

Only Cam will know the answer to that.  The team has basically decided to stand pat by not extending him since 2017.

The “Kyle Allen Hype” was built by hot-take artists and really uninformed fans. There was never any chance he was the long-term answer for this team. But to say there was a CREDIBLE wave of Allen over Newton Hype? Just never sensed that.

Why the hell would the media saying the team is prepared to move on from Newton have any bearing if they weren't? The Panthers could easily just call bullsh-t on that sort of thing. They haven't.

Here's what they did say.

All options includes Cam coming back. You think he would say that if we won yesterday and Allen threw 3 TDs? No we got destroyed by a horrible team, partially because the replacement QB poo the bed.

    • I did too. Also, the media here are like little fuzzy kittens compared to NYC.
    • I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared to year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.
    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
