Rivera midweek presser

Tbh. Rivera’s losing seasons were 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018

2011-2012 fixing the 2-14 Panthers

2014: Cam Newton nursing ribs and Byron bell and Nate chandler (that’s the GMs fault)

2016: Gano missed a FG week 1

1 win lost, Falcons we couldn’t stop a nosebleed (again, how is this Ron’s fault? Bene benwikere or James Bradberry as a rookie was not stopping Julio Jones)x2 losses. Cam was hurt vs Tampa game 1. We get back on track and get to 3-5 and Popeyes biscuit fumbles the ball to the chiefs otherwise we arguably could’ve won that game in OT (but Rivera is never aggressive)  We get to 5-8 and Cam hurts his arm. (4-3 since starting 1-5 with a cam injury and Gano pulling his BS)

2017: 11-5: imo Rivera gets 0 credit for this team. Cam is hurt with a injury at the time we did not understand how bad it was, we find a way to win games vs great teams and we were Cams arm staying together 1 more game from winning the division... after getting swept by the Saints.

2018: When cams arm was halfway together we started 6-2.... Gano missed 2 kicks vs Detroit and 1 vs Seattle that would’ve had the team at 8-3 with two matchups with the saints looming... what was Ron supposed to do?

2019: Where we are now... 0-2 start and Ron goes 4-0 with a essentially rookie qb and loses to 2 good teams and gets destroyed by Atlanta... Then Rivera gets crap for players when we constantly have players leaving for monster deals because we can’t afford them...

Obviously Ron has losses that are his fault... but y’all are getting mad about him being 5-5 without a QB we thought all offseason we would have. Might be time to lay off him and put the blame where it belongs... the GM for it having depth for Ron to use...

The same thing that shows on the field does not always show on the practice field...

That may be true but there have been many occasions in which Ron played the Vet until injury over a more talented rookie.

I dont think Grier is our savior like some of the people around here do, I doubt he ever gets a chance in Carolina especially if we clean house.

Bottom line: career win percentage to this point .554 with a franchise qb at his disposal and a generational talent at MLB. All teams must deal with injuries. He is what he is, picking through every season to rationalize his record ignores that every coach in the NFL has to overcome similar challenges. He is not the worst, but he is far from the best.

Tom Brady blows out ACL week 1.

Pats go 11-5.

Rivera sucks.  Next question.

    • The Falcons have 2 significant offensive line injuries to start the 2025 season. Right tackle Kaleb Mcgary (who is the blindside protector for Penix since he is left-handed) is going to miss significant time, and it's looking more like it may be all season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-expect-kaleb-mcgary-to-miss-significant-time https://x.com/BKsquared7/status/1959285822236107013. Also, the top backup and swing tackle, Storm Norton (cool name BTW) is having ankle surgery and may miss half the season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-ot-storm-norton-out-6-8-weeks-after-ankle-surgery I don't root for injuries, but its also hard to be too sympathetic given how badly injuries have hit us in recent years. We definitely need to get that W in week 3 for our home opener at BOA. Despite our collective frustration at not being able to attend TC and then having boring preseason games, ultimately the most important objective of the preseason is to enter Week1 healthy, and we have at least done that. Hopefully the depth we think we have at Oline either shines through or isn't needed. Many other teams are in a bad spot with their offensive lines before the season even starts. For once, we aren't in that situation.
    • That roster was billed as a super smart and strong unit for a young QB….until he sucked though.   it didn’t have superstars but it had proven vets that checked well all the safe boxes and it was universally agreed the Panthers were putting him into position to succeed. BY just doesn’t fit a traditional O because he isn’t built like a traditional QB.  And he still doesn’t.   CJ Stroud would have had more success here than Bryce with that cast.   CJ just has the tools that fit the NFL more easily.  Young can find success but I have always argued it would take a Bryce centric plan (which we have never attempted IMO)
    • looks like the Lions and Bangles should forget about the playoffs, trade everyone they can, and start over.
