Where's your threshold?

I reached the point of not caring a couple weeks ago.

Fire both Rivera and hurney and I might take interest again. Anything short of that and my apathy will likely continue. I just know I'm done with the status quo, and hurney/Rivera are the embodiment of the status quo

This last off-season was hard enough, but I let myself get excited again only to be let down...again. I'm done. Until the change is made, I'm done.

Lemme have your opinion of each of the following potential outcomes:

What level of turnover would it take for you to approve of the coming offseason?

If nothing.....fire WASHINGTON..he should've been gone last year!!  Would send a message to the players!

for sake of discussion, let's say that Tepper decides to make sweeping changes.

I'm not looking for a list of who he should keep or who he should let go -- but am interested in knowing how much of the overall staff could Tepper take action on?  Is it "pretty much everybody/anybody in the organization he wants", other than specific players that are under various contract terms?

As far as the organization, you pick the GM and then you let him make those decisions.

One common way that often plays out is that they'll go through the current offseason with the existing pieces, then fire everybody or nearly everybody and start from scratch right after the draft.

On the coaching side, the owner could pick the head coach or he could allow the GM to choose. Either way, it's the head coach who decides on his staff of assistant coaches.

I'm assuming after firing Hurney and RR the new GM and then new HC will more or less be picking their staff from that point.

Ron basically did fire Washington... without actually firing him. Let him keep his title and pay, but he took over the defensive play calling. Honestly, pretty sweet gig for Washington.

Granted, some people don't buy that story.

My own take is that it doesn't matter. We're getting the results were getting regardless of who's doing the calls.

What level of turnover would it take for you to approve of the coming offseason?

1. That will set the franchise back years. Hurney has no business being the GM for this rebuild. Yes, he brought in Fox and Rivera, but he leaves something to be desired. This won't fix the problem IMO.

2. Theoretically, that will allow the new GM to make the decision on Rivera, and I'd imagine that would be done in tandem with Tepper. The ONLY way I'd be remotely close to accepting Rivera staying another year is if that means he has to overhaul his coaching staff. ALL of it. And even then, his player evaluation and "hybrid" scheme leaves a lot to be desired, so at the very least, he needs to give up on that scheme and commit to either a 3-4 or a 4-3. While it's true a new GM could help with player evaluation and filling out the roster, I doubt much would change (Old dog new tricks thing). Besides, the new GM would want his own guy and I don't see this being a viable option, nor do I see a candidate be willing to agree to such a limiting stipulation.

3. The most preferred, and possibly most likely option. Clean everyone out, from the GM down to the assistant to the equipment manager. This is the nuclear bomb option that most (including me) want to see. Burn it all down, get a GM, and let him go to work. Or get a President of Football Ops (what's the difference b/w that and a GM anyway?) and let him go to town.

4. Shoot me now.

I think we need full-blown turnover this offseason. At minimum, Hurney and Rivera needs to go. New GM then makes the decision on the roster. I'd also like to see the scouting department get revamped completely. This will most likely happen after the draft, I'd suspect.

Regardless, I think we're a bad team next year. This seems to be a multi-year project in the making.

    • Jalen Carter came into camp out of shape too. That was part of the reason he dropped considering he was thought of as the better defensive player pre-draft activities. It’s not a good sign when you don’t look great but it’s definitely premature.
    • We won 5 with the worst defense in the history of defenses.  I think free agency and our draft puts us over 6.5.
    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
