Little to IR

This is essentially a red shirt year for both Little and Daley.  They’ll take the off season to get healthy, stronger and work on their techniques.  Both can be a long term building block.  It’s not unusual for OL to take several years to transition from college.

Hurney would IR your mom.

That’s okay, my mom took a shot to the head one game filling in for Daryl Williams when he got hungry in the 3rd quarter and needed a snack. She used his number and nobody noticed except PFF up ticked his grade for that quarter slightly. I hope she doesn’t have a concussion.

I've said this before, you don NOT get projects to groom at LT.  You have a day 1 starter or else suffer the consequences.  I realize mediocrity along the OL is something this organization has tried to convince us is completely normal, but throwing mud at the wall to see if it sticks has not worked so well, has it...

if a LT is our best choice in the first, I say take him.  Little can move to LG next year.  Daly is our swing backup and a possible replacement for Moton after next season (his last year on his contract).

There is hope in the middle of this incredible mixture of misery and injury that has been our offensive line since 2015 ( a season that could have been a Lombardi cept for our right tackle).

But we can not fail to address the OL in the draft and/or FA this off-season.  Yes we're due for some good luck, but we can't count on that.  OL needs to be in the 1st or 2nd.  And I'm open to a deal to bring the Redskins disgruntled LT in.

No one on the Oline should be locked in. Everyone should earn their spot next year. I don't care where they were signed to play or for how much, when or where they were drafted to play, where they want to play, where they have played in the past or what they have done in the past. The best 5 Olinemen that we can put on the field should play. We should also draft any good players and let them compete. I don't care who wins and who cries about it. Put up or get out of the way.

Little will be there to compete but we need to bring in a LT competition. That is yet another position a long ways from being settled or good enough.

The hope was that Williams would be decent at LT to give Little a chance to develop. Obviously this was not the case, but I think if Little can get healthy this offseason having him and Daley battle it out at LT isn’t that bad. With that said our top FA target should be the best LG available to help whoever wins that battle and we should draft a center early in the draft. Little/Daley, vet FA, Early Draft Pick, Turner, Moton. Should be a good combination of young talent and veterans.

If Hurney is still around next draft and still has clout, I doubt drafting an OT high is in the cards.  Why?  That means Marty would have to admit questionable judgement on the Little selection and we know that won't happen.  He'll draft any other position just to avoid the appearance of a botched draft pick.  He'll do it under the guise of showing support for a young, growing player (Little).

Seriously, we need to go get a real LT in the FIRST ROUND this spring.   Let Williams walk in FA and let Daley/Little battle it out for starting RT and swing tackle backup.  That way we have our tackle situation addressed and spend the remainder of the draft/post draft FA shoring up the rest of the roster.  Until we replace Jordan Gross, I don't care who is under center...they will get pressured, hurried and sacked into oblivion!

Moton’s pretty well locked into RT. If a LT falls in our lap at some point fine but I’d rather we go into next year with Little/Daly battling for it than force it in the draft. We have a lot of holes, this entire draft needs to be BPA no matter the position. Every single position can be in play.

i don't think tackle is something we should spend a 1st on.   we may get a shot at the qb of the future.  i think we need to shore up the middle of the line first.  a center and 2 guards shouldn't be that hard to find.  could we draft a guy from wisconsin please - or two.   we can help the tackles we have and the qb will have somewhere to step up.  we didn't have that this year.  we have to have that. and to your point 45catfan the tackles don't matter when the pressure up the middle is getting there at the same time.   they just don't, and interior guys are easier to find.

Agreed, interior guys are easier to find, so that's why finding a LT is paramount.  I have to see how the QBs stack up and where we draft.  QB is the only other position I would consider right now.  However, given that scenario, would you rather have a QB with experience and LT on lock down or the #3 or #4 QB in the draft with Little or Daley protecting his blindside?  That scenario gets really scary, really fast in my mind.
