That was an illusion, and some people knew it.

Many of us were saying early on that this was yet another Hurney team that was good enough to beat bad teams but not good enough to compete against good ones.

As to 2015, that was the best roster that was built around Cam during his entire career.

I get that some of you think you owe Marty some kind of loyalty because he drafted Newton, but that's actually a stupid outlook because after drafting him, he built terrible teams around him.

Richardson's plan was just to leave Hurney as the interim GM indefinitely so that he didn't have to interview anybody else. The Fritz Pollard alliance complained that he was circumventing the Rooney Rule, so they bought in three minority candidates and gave them sham interviews before doing what everybody always knew Richardson was going to do.

With all the legitimate and serious questions regarding Newton coming out of college there is only one reason people should thank the Panthers for drafting him...

CBA salary cap (put in place that year).

Our true window with Cam was after 2013.  Ron and Marty both should've been canned after 3-8-1.  15-1 may have not happened but I think we could've gotten a ring or two with a better crew around Cam and Luke in their primes.
