What happens with Hurney now?

Rhule went on the record during a radio interview in Texas late this afternoon and was very complimentary of Hurney -- cited him as a key part of the "good fit" that made him want to take the job.

Hurney is about 64 and they are going to find the next Brandon Beane and train him and coach him up and one day in the future he will take Hurndog's place.

All that said, be assured, currently Marty Hurney is squarely ensconced in Big Tepp's inside circle --- he has the job.

I thought this was already explained?

From my understanding since he's under contract, he has to be in this years draft, after that, he'll more than likely take a back seat to the Next GM. He's essentially on his way out.

This seems to be what the huddle wants but there are no indications about Hurney's future. An assistant GM is needed since we never replaced Beane and it makes sense that Tepper would be looking to find a successor to Hurney who is 64 and not exactly a spring chicken. But I haven't heard Tepper say anything about Hurney's position and he would be stupid to do so. Even if he planned to move on he isn't going to say anything until the time actually comes.

Speaking of Brandon Beane look at the approval results from this poll taken on one of the Bills fan sites....

....over 3,600 votes and only 46 don't approve of the job he is doing!

NOTE:  Vote was taken after the loss over the weekend.

Tepper will rename the team The Carolina Hurneys.
His first move will be to make Addison a top 5 paid DE. Then he will free up a little room by extending all other expensive vets by 5 years. Then he will go into seclusion as he decides which third round corner should really play safety or which college qb would make an excellent WR.

Championship.
lather, rinse, repeat.

Hurney was involved with the coaching search. Tepper said from the start that Hurney and the new coach would work together to hire the new Assistant gm. He's here for a bit, at least til the Assistant gm is ready. Probably looking at 2021 or 2022 before he leaves.

Or moving up as President of Business operations...

    • Taking only players from the sheet that are realistically available in or after the listed round, I’d like… 1st: DT Caleb Banks (Styles not realistic) 2nd: LB Jacob Rodriguez 3rd: OT Best available from Bowry, Barber, and Casey 4th: CB Daylen Everette 5th: S Jalen Huskey 6th: RB Adam Randall 7th: IOL Best available from Lemieux, Dawkins, Leausa, and Brose   I know nothing about some of the players listed, but it seems like that would be the best way it could fall for now. I’m sure the list of who we meet will change a ton, and there will also be players we don’t meet with to keep quiet. I’d love to pick up Randall in the late rounds.
    • Not what I said. They know within the building why we aren't utilizing TEs more. If the rumors were true that we were seriously pursuing a couple of decent receiving TEs that strongly points toward a lack of quality receiving TEs currently on the roster. Does that mean we consider drafting one at 19? I don't know, but it wouldn't shock me and if we did there's only one guy it would be. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see TE drafting somewhere in the first three rounds.
    • Yeah, I don’t know. Tepper was behind the Bryce selection. Behind firings and hiring over his lack of development.  He doesn’t have to literally tell them their hands are tied for them to know this. It is in the air constantly. The Canales Bryce play calling was even portrayed by more than one person as Canales failing Bryce, instead of Bryce being responsible for his own performance (except when he does well, then it is all him). Now they have an extra coach in, to help the new OC get results from this QB.  The atmosphere is not welcoming to prototypical young QBs that have talent. You get Jake Plummer types or old vets. I think we are stuck.
