Well, if Cam doesn't return, I am fully expecting to be a cellar dweller for a long time. To be quite honest, I am kind of getting the feeling like Rhule won't be here for the culmination of whatever this is supposed to be.

I guess all these "Tank for Trevor" guys are about to get their wish.

I think that mindset is a loser mentality for whoever displays it, your sacrificing a season for a guy that could very well end up not being the savior.

not a fan of it, wasting More years of a prime cmc or Moore isnt smart whichever way people try and spin it

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think we will really have to "try" to tank if we lose Luke, Cam and Greg in the same offseason. Not to mention Bradberry. Let's say that all happens(and it hasn't yet). How hard would we really need to try to end up as a bottom 5 team?

I think it is more likely now than it was an hour ago, but I still say no....unless we get a Herschel Walker trade for him, and that’s only happening if he’s fully healthy.  No trade for a mere first round pick unless it’s a top 3 overall and full confidence in the targeted QB replacement. Rebuild or not, no one/two/three draft picks are going to help the team nearly as much as a healthy Cam.

Yeah there’s gonna be a team that out sucks us imo, a guy like cmc will takeover at least 3 games a year imo. I think with the talent we do have we still aren’t guaranteed a top 3 picks where the qbs are going to go

Now ppl on twitter will say “he’s gna take a year off and go to Washington”

Can't do that.  He will be under contract.  You have to play 6 games to accrue 1 season in the NFL.  Retiring doesn't change that.

I love CMC but he netted us exactly zero wins in the second half of the past two seasons when our QB play fell apart. He is not good enough to win us games alone, as we have seen.

We have a LOT of offseason left, so it is way too early to say we are a lock for a top 3 pick. I do think we may start trending in that direction, though.

We are not keeping Cam with this depleted roster it makes no sense. Cam will be traded or cut point blank. Get ready for Kyle Allen or Will Grier to be your starting QB. This team will be tanking for Lawrence next year.

Im kind of interested to see what teams become a destination for Cam.

Okay. Trade Cam. But what would we possibly get back? Remember he walks after this season if he doesnt renew on top of his health being a question mark. We would be lucky to get a 2nd.

I don't know if people realize this but franchise QBs are as rare as diamonds, that guys like Nick Foles are getting 4yr $88m!!!! That could be us in a few years as we struggle to replace Cam cause we all know how rare it is for this franchise to pick inside the top 10 let alone top 5. Not to mention any of those QBs picked are more likely to be duds like Sam Darnold.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
