Cam Newton - The Franchise (OPP)

Thank you for sharing.

It’s definitely not a slam dunk that he’s back. There are legitimate concerns, and it’s important to account for those.

Hopefully, he can make his way back into the starting lineup for Carolina with a clean bill of health. I think most folks would like to see that.

This is the guy I want back.

Do you think we can get that guy back? The guy in most (or all) of those highlights was a bigger Cam than the guy who barely looked bigger than that teenager in the thread from earlier today. It's his choice, but I don't know if we'll ever see that Cam again.

I saw that picture earlier, and he did look a little bit trimmer. Not sure if that’s just an illusion, or what. He’ll have to modify his game, for sure. That said: a good bit of those plays in the highlight reel were from 2018. You can still use him creatively, IMO.

The shoulder is likely a long-term concern, if I had to take a guess. Short term, I think he’s got some years left. Wear and tear? Thing is, most of his damage came from within the pocket or chasing down an interception. Unless guys go head hunting, which is not unprecedented, Cam is usually pretty safe in the open field.

It’s going to be fascinating couple of months.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
