Could you go without NFL football for two years?

Sure, Im getting older and dont follow like I once did. I already know in the near future the game will become a "flag-football" type league, with all players sliding like QBs to avoid hits. Greed also made me quit years ago and if not for my friends I would have.

Both sides will have to compromise Owners have enough money to survive but will get pressure from sponsors if games aren't played

If the NFL doesn’t play the sponsors don’t pay. If the NFL plays with Alternate’s the sponsors don’t pay. The NFL goes belly up. I don’t know why this is even a discussion.

Yeah, the majority of the players ain't making it two years without a pay check.

This is Smith just letting them know they ain't getting everything they want out of this deal.

With the average NFL career around 3-4 years, I call that bluff.

I was close---3.3 years.

Imagine what that'd do to the kids graduating college during those two years.

The majority of them would go on with their lives like normal. Of the thousands of players who play, only a couple hundred per year get picked up by NFL teams. The ones who were banking on NFL careers and nothing else would be the ones affected most.

If the league wants 17 games, need to compromise and bring in 2 bye weeks.  Honestly think some players may even prefer a 17 game/2 bye week schedule over the 16 week/1 bye week season.  Ignorant opinion from someone who has never played, but imagine the 2 bye weeks would be nice for recovery, extra time off, family time, etc.

Nice idea. I personally think 2 preseason games is enough.

I think they would go for it if it was actually a full week off. I mean every team. For the second bye week.

In sorry. He’s an idiot and I have no idea why the players back him.

Agreed.  Two years out of football?  Ask Bell how just one year away works out.  Most players will get fat and lazy and lose millions in the process.

I can tell you one guy who'd probably be all for it.

There's no way the XFL could pay anything close to NFL salaries, but for some guys they'd be way better than nothing.

You have no idea how much I want to respond to this. I’ll wait though cause my filter won’t work up here.
