I'm as critical of Hurney as anyone but this is a stretch. Dude showed up with a non football related injury that required significant time to heal. Wouldn't fault any GM for letting him go instead of being bamboozled.

That's kinda the thing with Marty, though.

Whatever decision he makes, whether it's good reasoning or bad reasoning, low risk or high risk, being conservative or swinging for the fences, it just more often than not tends to be wrong.

That was what always frustrated me about Rivera. Yeah, he could make the same mistakes a lot, but when he did give you hope and go against his usual MO, it frequently turned out to be the wrong time to do so.

Some people are just really terrible at decision making.

Wow look at the huge heel turn from Scott over the past 48 hours. Sh!tting on the Panthers left and right. It’s like when Hulk Hogan went to the NWO.

We probably could have waited on him, put him on PUP or IR or something, but it didn't really make a whole lot of sense at the time and I agreed with the ultimate decision.

Truthfully though, it's probably fair to say he "got the last laugh". Could also say Harrison Butker did too.

I'm happy for both but he is a awesome CB. We definitely should have waited. Hurney screwed it up. Now we have to pay a premium for Bradberry.

He failed a physical.  Not signing him wasn't a choice.  It was essentially mandated.

It was a cut on his foot. We could have waited and got a good CB that would have help us. Hurney screwed up.

That has been a trend of all our GMs. Let's not forget Dave gave Kalil tons of money to do nothing. When there were better or cheaper options.

Such a waste of thread space since he had an foot injury he failed to bring up when we brought him in for physical and was hiding it and you make this lame thread.

Waste? He was a top CB after we found a reason not to pay him. Now we have zero CBs. Yeah such a waste.

...

"found a reason not to pay him"

Please name for me the NFL team, or ANY professional sports team that has EVER signed a player after that player failed a physical.  Go on, I'll wait. I thought we all understood that it's just one of those things pro teams don't do, ever, for good reason. Why in the world would a team identify a player in FA, bring him in, check him out, sign him pending a phsyical, and then "find a reason" to back out of that? If they didn't like him, they just would not have made him the offer, right?

It was a cut that got infected, took months to heal and required skin grafts. I'd say that's a little more than slapping some neosporin and a bandaid on it.

You can't sign a guy to $24m with $11m guaranteed if he can't pass his physical.
