DT vs. OT

MHS831

Thomas vs. Brown: What kind of tackle are you picking at #7?

81 members have voted

  1. 1. If both LOT Thomas and DT Brown are on the board at #7, who do you pick? (explain your rationale)

    • OT Thomas
      51
    • DT Brown
      30

Unless Brown is the next Aaron Donald he's not going to fix the rest of the defense.

If we're in a position to draft Thomas it'll help solidify that group and we could have a VERY dangerous offense next year if Cam comes back healthy. A Ferrari wont go very fast without a good engine. The offensive line is the heart and soul in every offense in football. A great oline has guys like Dak Prescott throwing for 4900 yards.

Healthy Qb1, with a solid oline, an all pro CMC, and an improving DJ Moore/Curtis Samuel/Whoever else they bring in with Joe Brady calling the plays actually has me excited for next year

We need to give Little more of a shot than a concussion riddled rookie season with a lame duck head coach.

go draft at a position that is devoid of talent and young potential aka DT

Hurney isn't drafting a LT a season after trading up for "our future left tackle". Bitch and say what you want, Id bet good money we will not be drafting LT

But what would you want? If Rhule and Brady want a LT I don't think Hurney has much say in the matter

If they are comparable prospects I go with LT.

I want to give Little a chance to develop in what will most likely be a rebuilding year.

giving up on Little, especially considering the circumstances, is premature.

We are a rebuilding team that needs talent. We have Short and that's all at DT. We don't even have unknown players.

At least at LT we have two players going into their 2nd year that struggled with injuries but at times showed potential. Daley and Little were rookies. It takes time to grow into their position.

We just saw what SF did with their defensive line. We saw the impact Chris Jones had on the game.

Imagine putting Brown next to Burns and running a stunt. That would be hell to block. Give me Brown in the 1st.

Are you willing to risk Cam's future with the panthers on Little performing THIS SEASON?

Also moving him to guard would not be giving up on him, just putting him in a less critical role while we give him time to develop and see if he can stay healthy, which regardless of potential is a whole seperate issue that may force giving up on him.

Glaring holes all over the defense, and arguably our best defensive lineman will be returning from injury.  KK isn't a stud anymore by any stretch, but he's still a pretty solid player.  Good DTs are much easier to come by than good OTs.

A good OT makes this offense potentially dangerous if we add a weapon in the passing game via free agency, and Cam Newton can return to form.  Doubtful that happens, but if it did, we could at least try to outscore opponents.  The defense needs a complete rebuild, and I don't think DT is the place to start with a rebuild.

    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
    • Hoping someone tells us Bussi was in the starter's crease for the morning skate. Otherwise, place your 1st shot- 1st goal bets! Any closer to a deal that could land a 2C in Trocheck or Brayden Schenn? Or land a winger in Alex Tuch or reach for Jordan Kyrou?
