Carolina sticking with Cam

Lol. I think some of these people would legitimately go cry in their pillows for hours if Cam were to be traded.

I’m not really happy when I read that. Not because I want Cam out but because it basically said he’s still months away from being game ready. We saw what happened to Greg when he came back from the foot injury. It took until the second year before he was able to play the entire season and he sure didn’t look the same.

My biggest concern is that we decide after 2020 that we don’t want to extend Cam and we destroy him and we go 7-9 and fly right by some of the top potential franchise QBs in years. Then we try to make do with Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold type prospects.

Oh well, I hope he’s healthy but I don’t think this teams a contender with a $35M Cam.

Not much different than our other buddy acting like speculation in sports talk is some kind of crisis.

I'll repeat what I said in another thread about why NFL insider reporting isn't easy.

Teams change their minds.

Players change their minds.

Agents put out misinformation to help their clients.

Teams put out misinformation to help themselves.

Sources get information wrong.

Things happen that cause both teams and players to change course.

As has been said before, "fluid".

So basically, all you can do is listen to what's likely to happen at a given point in time, but none of it is guaranteed.

Thus, if a reporter has an insight that turns out to be wrong, it might be their fault but frequently it's not

Same with this story. If it turns out that this is something meant to gauge or drum up trade interest, it won't be Rapoport's fault for reporting it.

When you're getting your news from people that have an agenda, it's tricky.

I think we keep Cam only if we have no choice in the matter - no significant offer/interest.

And if we keep him, I think it will be for this upcoming season to finish his contract at most. I believe Tepper and Rhule both want to put their unique stamp on things, and they prefer to, more or less, start with a clean slate - a new era.

No kid your poo posts where any chance you get Cam is gone is tiring, the shtick is old. No one cares what “roaring riot zack” said because he has as many sources as we do 0. Tepper is not letting some random fan club guy in on how he runs the team it’s just not happening. Why that’s so over your fuging head no one knows. Your boy could say Tepper stubbed his toe and you’d be shouting from the rooftops in defense of him no matter what.

Most rational people have said from the start unless you get a mass haul or a QB you fee is the next franchise QB you run with Cam.

• Your first excuse was some random poster saying Cecil would NEVER let Cam play on a one year prove it deal, Cam came out and said he would do anything to stay in Carolina ; Your response nope can’t be, once your boy says it “things have changed the Cam camp is good with it” months after Cam said he was good with it

• Cam needs to be healthy before any discussions are made per Tepper, Rhule, Hurney ; Your response “Well the fact they didn’t say he’ll be here another 15 years means he’s gone”

You’ve done it over and over consistently changing when your “insider” a glorified fan club starter has said what is common sense. Just drop the act for god’s sake.

Not a clue...

Ok champ you won’t ever actually address anything because you can’t it’s all good. Multiple times you’ve been called out and your response is something like above or you ignore it @TheRed can verify that for sure.

End of the day it’s always fluid and can change but you’ve taken your hardline stance and everyone knows it. You follow anything your boy says to the death and that’s fine but maybe think for yourself for once. Deuces

This is just them trying to drum up trade interest

WFNZ talking about it now.  Said their sources down the street have told them the Panthers have recieved 0 phone calls and 0 teams have shown any interest despite what some other rumors that have been circulating

If true, this is exactly why I thought a trade would be problematic.

They’re in a bit of a pickle, the organization.

I actually wrote about this two months ago. The contradiction between teams lining up for his services, but his value being suspect due to injury:

Well, I'm happy with this news.  Personally, Cam is my son's favorite player so there's that.

I think we're a better team with Cam under center throwing to Moore, Samuel, and CMC.  I don't buy into the fire sale of the Panthers.  They are just fishing for picks. I'm not sure who is going to take the Panthers up on that.

Actually, our own inside source had already said this several days ago in All Pro, but also added "for now" and that the situation is still fluid.

The usual standard employed here is the sources are trustworthy as long as they are saying what you want to hear.

It's not uncommon to see the same people call a source reliable or lousy depending on what they're saying. It's dumb, but it happens a lot.

I have maintained all along it was not set in stone despite what the inside sources felt. That is why I could not understand the certainty that a lot of you guys were operating under. We don't know what is ultimately going to happen, we are just taking the temperature of the moment.

Also, Ian Makeupareport is pretty notorious for spewing information without any sort of filtering or verification. That is why he is so commonly inaccurate. Not rare in the modern sports media.

Worth remembering that his health status also complicates any efforts to trade him.

Either way, Rap Sheet's report lines up with what we'd already heard from Zack, but even he still acknowledges anything is possible (Rap hedges too if you read the tweet) so I still can't say how seriously to take this stuff.

Nah man dude does this consistently I even acknowledge that if we get a king’s ransom he should be traded. This forum is filled with far too many “I’m just saying” poo posts when it comes to Cam. Why they are allowed who knows but it’s been happening since before he got drafted

Not really dude.

Legitimately dude in the All-Pro has said these things. Scot's tone has been even keeled the whole time, I've been reading through the exchanges and you're the one with the agenda.

Knock it off and stop pestering the guy just because you don't agree with what he says while he's playing devil's advocate.

    • See my previous post. You're also leaving out that T-Mac was likely hitting a rookie wall, like 95% of rookies do late in their first season, combined with the added attention on him by defenses, which in turn would be why Bryce looked Coker's way down the stretch.  With Coker playing like that to start next year, defenses will have to pay attention to it, which will then also make things easier for T-Mac. All of which is also ignoring that T-Mac will just be a better player next year than he was this year, assuming he works on his game this offseason, which we all know he will be.  If a player who was already your clear cut #1 comes back even better his next season, you're going to make sure you're throwing it his way more often, no matter who else you have. Again, Coker's added targets won't be at the expense of T-Mac's, they will BOTH be taking targets from the rest of the team.  Not to mention, we should be passing it more next year to begin with, seeing as we'll have both of them hopefully ready to go full speed Week 1, which again, will help both their target totals increase. Coker looks like a really good player, but even the most optimistic person can't say he looks like he has #1 potential, he has very solid to maybe even high end #2 potential.  You're not taking targets away from the reigning OROY who looks like a true Top 15 WR already to get your #2 targets, you increase both of them by taking from the others.
    • Need to crush the hawks tonight. A lose would really damage momentum
    • Sorry, but this is a terrible breakdown that doesn't at all show what you're trying to say/project about T-Mac next year, as it leaves out key information that changes everything, it makes the opposite point that you're trying to. Chase missed 5 games that second season after playing all 17 as a rookie (and still saw more targets that second season). Puka it looks like you projected his stats out to a 17 game season (as he only played 11 games), but even still , when you have 160+ targets as a rookie, there isn't really much room to get any more the next year. Waddle saw an increase in yards, and sure, his targets went down, but he played on a team with a better WR that year who saw 170 targets for 1,710 yards during that 2nd season for Waddle... something T-Mac doesn't have to contend with on the same team (280+ targets for their top 2 WRs, if you don't think T-Mac would see more than 122 targets if him and Coker combined for 287, then you're nuts). Then Olave and Wilson both saw an increase of 19 targets in their second season. You basically just laid out the reasoning for why T-Mac should see at least 20 more targets next year, if not more, which would be a solid increase and put him easily into the Top 10 most targeted WR next season.
