Newton’s questionable health status would have made it extraordinarily difficult to trade him, particularly with how flooded the QB market is this offseason.  

Reading more on it seem the team might be in a hard spot on cam's questionable health & other teams are not to interested if at all  in trading for cam,  Panthers are already intrigued by the 2021 QB' draft class. Hmmm? no can't be ...

I'm sure it's still fluid and there could be surprises left for us fans but it's great to see them to start handling this the right way. Most of the last month concerning Cam was poorly handled and could have been nullified by what Rhule did today but they waited for whatever reason to let this drag out.

2021 QB class looks better and the fact that Cam wants to come play here with one year left should be a no-brainer baring any ridiculous temptations or unforeseen obstacles.  

I still feel bad for Cam because we are depleted of talent and there is no indication of a quick turnaround, even with Cam making us at least competitive, but we are better if Cam can stay healthy and if not then we pick high in 2021.

I really feel like LA was talking with CAR and talks finally stalled. Tepper answered that question slyly, "my wife answers the phones at the house," Marty Hurney was negotiating, that's why he wasn't lying, he didn't talk to anyone.

Wasnt a jab at you specifically bro. It a general statement. seeing a lot of what I mentioned from the "huddle elitist" guys who are some of the been around for years highly respected 10000 post community.

Don’t ever remember seeing so much QB upheaval going into the draft.  Probably a third OF the teams don’t have an unchallenged starter.  Even the Giants new coach said that Jones is not penciled in as a starter.  NE, TB, INDY, CHI, CINCY, SD, TENN, LV ,MIA and even DET and DAL have decision to make.  So we and Cam are not in an unusual situation in an era of 30+ million dollar contracts.  I think Frank Reich said it best at the combine this afternoon regarding his QB......Be a man.....welcome the competition....let’s get better.

I'm sure they will listen and consider offers for anyone but Cam is here for now and we only bumbled once today and it was a small one. That's an improvement. Tepper needs to learn better trade talk, there are times to keep it professional and others to have fun. One of the most creditworthy off the cuff coments in team history led to the Gettleman vs Smith meltdown, which was 100% avoidable.

 Too many new parts for me to know anything for certain at this point of much. It's not a bad theory but there is a lot that could be going down behind the scenes as Rhule settles in with this staff.

it’s a compliment but it’s not the same as saying I’m going to enjoy coaching Cam in 2020 and much easier so say it WOULD have been great if he was let go instead of looking like you didn’t know what was going on

So when does the extension rumors start?  Honestly this isnt a good thing for Cam. if he doesnt get a extension then he is just a 1 year placeholder til we draft a QB next year.  

 

Atleast this year we can focus on the offensive and defensive line now.

It’s what Tepper has been saying from the very beginning, that they want Cam here if he’s healthy. A few months ago his health was more up in the air. Apparently he has made good progress and the outlook on his health is promising.

The offense is not depleted of talent. Only around 3 spots on the line. With the addition of Joe Brady, plus the natural maturation of Moore and Samuel and CMC, we have the pieces for a great offense. We could go Jeudy or Lamb at 7 and really open things up. We should have a decent chunk of change to spend in Free Agency too. The defense is going to struggle, but this ain’t your Daddy’s Carolina Panthers. Looks like we’re shifting from a defense-centric team to an offensive team.

I agree about Moore, Samuel and CMC but the whole oline is underwhelming. Tre used to be very good and is now ok, Moton might hit very good but hasn't taken the next step in development (i hope he can for sure) but the rest is very questionable. Armah and Thomas are guys I think can make a leap this year but that is far from certain. It looks depleted until a couple of those guys improve dramaticly. It's not that i am against that but it hasn't happened yet.

He addressed this at his presser. No one is a starter right now. Even CMC. Maybe they are trading him too?
