The last few years Turner has been getting penalized way too much. So many holds and false starts. He has been nothing like he was on his rookie contract. Same can be said for Darryl Williams, Norwell and many other “hyped” Panthers lineman drafted after Cam.

Also Okung might be a better scheme fit to whatever line packages Rhule wants

This is a tank  move...  accumulate asset is a tank  move.. More Cap space next offseason is a asset.. Plus you get to develop your young OT on the roster and not depend on them to start right away...

and the new staff didn’t feel the answer was on the roster...the same one the current GM traded up to get

Turner has been meh the last couple years. He can be replaced. 

All those pro bowls have been for name sake.

Good point. Seems I read that Rhule likes mobile linemen with quick feet. Not sure Turner was much of that lately.
