magical thinking has an incredible effect on humans when they're inundated with it early in life. a mind that doesn't really have a concept of concrete thinking yet introduced to abstractions, well, lots of people can never put it back together.  jesus, santa, easter bunny.......

I agree. Down with religion and DOWN WITH CHINA!

Political Bias aside, this man is deplorable and reprehensible. It still amazes me that he was elected and that says a lot about our society as a whole.

I love how you always preface your political opinions with "politics aside..."

Yep, I don’t care what political party Trump is currently a member of, he is a terrible human being. He was always a terrible human being so how did he get elected?

Actually, it says more about Hillary Clinton than anything.

I agree that the Democratic option was terrible. How in the hell did trump even get the Republican nomination? It’s the same as how the hell did Clinton get the Democratic nomination? Terrible choices that political appointees are selecting and the American public is none the wiser.

How so?. Please explain hiw Trump was a better candidate.

Trump is no different than Bush Jr. administration he just says the quiet parts out loud. The failure of the Democratic Party to put in a candidate that champions for the working class and the poor is the reason Trump won and will destroy Biden in November.

Why is the Democratic Party propping up these types of candidates? Dig deep and you’ll find it is clear as day.

That’s one reason. Opinionated news that masquerades as fact, has damaged our society, our way of thinking, and our country. I think opinionated news should be labeled entertainment by law, and forced to lose the “news” designation. How else can the feeble minded distinguish fact from opinion?

I’m in SLC Utah. One of the few states without stay at home order. Overall I’m pretty impressed with the numbers here and don’t agree that it’s supposedly is the worst states due to that fact. 2,400 cases and 19 deaths. For a city of this size it could be much worse. It’s amazing to see everyone helping each other here. We have local neighborhoods designate someone to buy essentials every week for others and leave it on the doorstep, Grocery stores isles are one way only, etc.

There is no stay at home order but you wouldn’t know it. Everything non essential is shut down and this city is a ghost town. The whole Park City area is very restricted since people come from all over the world to Ski there. Tourists not allowed.

While I’m impressed about some things others baffle me. Generally people have been smart and compliant and work together  here in the Beehive (Utah) state...except Mormons, well some Mormons.

The churches and temples have ‘closed’ yet I still see 60 cars in the parking lot, missionaries came home and they were  bombarded by hundreds of people in the middle of a pandemic:

Idiots. Political leaders who identify as Mormons also call them idiots. The main people dying here are those doing religious poo. But for all these things and as big as a city this is, I still have to say I’m generally impressed.

Anyways, just thought I’d ramble about what’s going on here for those interested.

If it wasn't for Utah's fuged up politics, I'd probably live there instead of CO. With that said, without the fuged up politics, Utah's cost of living would be just as high as CO's.

This is a lie. I posted a video a few pages back of the WHO leader on January 23rd saying this was not a global emergency and that travel and trade should still go on.

On january 30th, Trump put that travel ban on china and the WHO and Democrats called him racist and a xenophobe.

What were the Democrats doing in feb? Grilling the President daily on impeachment over false accusations about ukraine.

For Deomcrats to shift blame from China and the WHO to Trump just shows how much they hate the man.

He has said things that have been completely false. He isn't perfect. But you would think by how much the Democrats attack him, he was in a lab making the virus.

Instead of complaining so much, try for one week to be positive and not always play victim. Everyone living in the United States should feel very thankful.

What's the lie?

The Shield posted two posts about the WHO confirming human to human transmission, & you're complaining about when they called it a global emergency.

Agree, I just want someone who is competent. It's like sending a loved one to get surgery, I don't care about the doctor's political affiliation. I just want someone that can do their job. Trump is a bad person and terrible at his job.

So you are saying that Trump was proactive and all over this, even though the numbers vs the world do not suggest anything REMOTELY akin to what you are saying.  You are spewing spin.  Let's talk FACTS (not KellyAnne's version) and stop believing everything you want to hear oozing from the white house.  This is your guy---after saying in March: "I always felt this was a pandemic.  I was calling it a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic." Let's take a look, since the democrats are trying to bring down the President (these are his words--hint--if you don't like them, chant "fake news" like your training suggests):

Here’s what the president said in public remarks, interviews and tweets from Jan. 22 to March 10 -– one day before the World Health Organization declared the global outbreak a pandemic.

Jan. 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.” — Trump in a CNBC interview.

Jan. 30: “We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five — and those people are all recuperating successfully. But we’re working very closely with China and other countries, and we think it’s going to have a very good ending for us … that I can assure you.” — Trump in a speech in Michigan.

Feb. 10: “Now, the virus that we’re talking about having to do — you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April. We’re in great shape though. We have 12 cases — 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape now.” — Trump at the White House. (See our item “Will the New Coronavirus ‘Go Away’ in April?“)

Feb. 14: “There’s a theory that, in April, when it gets warm — historically, that has been able to kill the virus.  So we don’t know yet; we’re not sure yet. But that’s around the corner.” — Trump in speaking to National Border Patrol Council members.

Feb. 23: “We have it very much under control in this country.” — Trump in speaking to reporters.

Feb. 24:The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!” — Trump in a tweet.

Feb. 26:So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck.” — Trump at a White House briefing.

Feb. 26:And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.” — Trump at a press conference.

Feb. 26:I think every aspect of our society should be prepared. I don’t think it’s going to come to that, especially with the fact that we’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.” — Trump at a press conference, when asked if “U.S. schools should be preparing for a coronavirus spreading.”

Feb. 27: “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.” — Trump at a White House meeting with African American leaders.

Feb. 29:And I’ve gotten to know these professionals. They’re incredible. And everything is under control. I mean, they’re very, very cool. They’ve done it, and they’ve done it well. Everything is really under control.” — Trump in a speech at the CPAC conference outside Washington, D.C.

March 4: “[W]e have a very small number of people in this country [infected]. We have a big country. The biggest impact we had was when we took the 40-plus people [from a cruise ship]. … We brought them back. We immediately quarantined them. But you add that to the numbers. But if you don’t add that to the numbers, we’re talking about very small numbers in the United States.” — Trump at a White House meeting with airline CEOs.

March 4:Well, I think the 3.4% is really a false number.” — Trump in an interview on Fox News, referring to the percentage of diagnosed COVID-19 patients worldwide who had died, as reported by the World Health Organization. (See our item “Trump and the Coronavirus Death Rate.”)

March 7:No, I’m not concerned at all. No, we’ve done a great job with it.” — Trump, when asked by reporters if he was concerned about the arrival of the coronavirus in the Washington, D.C., area.

March 9: “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!” — Trump in a tweet.

March 10:And we’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.” — Trump after meeting with Republican senators.

A day later, on March 11, the WHO declared the global outbreak a pandemic.

Now Trump wants to pull funding from them--because they made him look bad.  That is the leader you support. Wake up.
