The #Panthers are finalizing a deal with QB Teddy Bridgewater

That deal says "bridge QB" to me.

(ironic, I know)

Unless they’re planning on taking Love or Herbert at 7 who need a year to sit and watch the bridge QB only hurts us.

Prior to this signing this roster was in perfect shape to land us Lawrence or Fields. Now we’ll win a handful of games fall out of those sweepstakes all while spending a good chunk of money that could’ve been spent getting this roster ready for a young QB to take over.

dont like it. teddy not good enough to win sb on a terrible team but not bad enough to get no1/no2 overall pick for the obvious top qbs coming out. so that leaves you somewhere around 8-8 again.

stupid for a so called rebuild.

Exactly. Let’s me mediocre again. fuging ass backward stupid. I hate Marty.

Teddy is terrible but here is the catch, if we play a horrifically bad enough team he will get us a win. Those couple of wins RUIN our chances of drafting a top QB. Rhule, who thinks his system has been handed down by god, is going to find out that the NFL is a different animal from cheese d!ck college level "competition" where 99% of DBs don't know where they are on the field.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

That may indeed be true.

I'm not really upset about this particular transaction though.

It makes a lot of sense.

We are in a race with the Chargers and Bengals right now for the worst run team in the NFL...that's ummmmmm NOT where I thought we would be with new ownership.

This move just isn't smart long term, we had a simple, realistic plan that was right in front of us, and we choose the wrong move again.  Just a poorly run franchise, consumed with being below average.

I’ll remember this move while we watch two other teams grab Lawrence and Fields (maybe Newman) and Turner around our franchise. Heck, even though I wanted to move on from Cam, I’d rather not now. This is a joke and we as fans should remember that we not only let Cam go, we also didn’t even get one of the potential stud QBs to build on. We got Teddy freaking Bridgewater. SMH.

He has a skill set that fits Brady's offense very well.

I have no idea how this is going to work out, but it does make perfect sense.

Why does this make sense?  What's the goal?

To win more than 5 games a year?

Also, to anyone thinking this is a great deal.  Look at his entire body of work.  Anyone can look decent in five games - similar to Kyle Allen.

Been following this team for four years now. I understand the love affair with Cam but many of you are living in the past. The guy is broken down and a shell of his former self. If you can't see the positives in this deal then there is not nothing that can be said that will alter your blind love.

I have a feeling this will go down as one of the worst moves in franchise history. A healthy Cam can carry a team, Teddy B cannot. So we’re going to pay Teddy the same amount we would have paid Cam in what will be a complete rebuilding year.

I just heard somebody on ESPN radio talking about Cam “competing” with Tyrod Taylor in SD, or “pushing” Mitch Trubisky in Chicago. People acting like Cam is some scrub level QB.

I sincerely hope he goes to NE, is healthy, and absolutely dominates with a competent coaching staff. I hope he shuts everybody’s mouths and exposes this stupid fugging franchise.

    • Is there any real statistical evidence of this beyond anecdotal things like washed vets signing with the Chiefs or Pats every once in a while?  it doesn't really hold up.  Everyone gets paid in FA.  Everyone gets paid on 2nd contracts.  Its just how it is.  Do you think Icky would make less in FA than he would with a Panther extension?  Is that what's being implied?
    • Fitts fuged up the Burns contract by not taking the trade. He lost his leverage at that point. That level offer was for a top 3 complete edge rusher which Burns never was. It should never have been a debate. Take the Rams offer if we weren't going to pay Burns that type of contract.  Icky should get paid. Where it will get interesting is when/if Bryce demands an extension after this year. If he follows the trend of 1st round QBs drafted and immediately starting for their team, and still with them, end of 3rd year is extension time. If Bryce demands his 45-50m per season and Morgan/Tepper pays it, I see Icky starting for someone else and us looking to the draft or FA market for a new LT.
    • Ickey has earned a good new contract obviously. We do need to draft a RT maybe in the 2026 draft.
