Panthers get another WR, Robby Anderson

We wait until Cam is gone to sign a decent WR, go figure.

Good signing, but like a lot in this thread I just don't get what direction this team is going.  Hurney thinks we can rebuild on the fly...but we still may top out as the 3rd best team in the NFC South WITH a great draft.  Consistently mediocre has turned into a coke-induced roller coaster.

A lot of teams put their best wr in the slot.

WR1: DJ Moore / Seth Roberts

WR2: Robby Anderson / Keith Kirkwood

Slot: Curtis Samuel/ Pharroh Cooper

Hopefully we still add a WR if they drop deep in the draft. Maybe 6th round someone with too much value could be sitting there,

Yes but they usually line their #1 up anywhere depending on the down. This talk about Moore in the slot only is madness. He’s the fastest outside route runner on the team and he’s not a big over the middle guy.

That is a nice WR corps.  Samuel could get some backfield carries as well.  Are done on offense for the most part?

The Saints have had 3 4th rounders in the last 4 years. This year, 2 of those 3 are starters on the D. One of them just signed a 3 year $27M deal a week ago.

You guys who bag on extra draft picks are honestly just ignorant on the draft. Just because our current GM misses a lot with picks after the 1st round doesn’t mean all GMs do and it doesn’t mean that you can’t find good starters in the 4th round or later. It’s not as easy but the reasons why the Saint have been kicking our asses since 2016 is because they’ve been very effective in rounds 2-4 lately and we haven’t. We just lost two of those picks due to FA signings that will at best gett is to .500 the next few years. Yeah team!

The major problem is the Saints won't let their draft team make the round 2-4 picks for us.  As long as we have you-know-who making those picks, they are relatively worthless in our hands.

But overall, I agree with your thinking.  I just wish we could execute it.  Maybe next year (he says, hoping something changes after the draft).

Samuel and Anderson are both faster and better route runners.

This. He's young and on a cheap rookie contract. He probably has minimal trade value right now with this insane WR class coming up. I'd rather give him another shot in a new offense than trade him for peanuts.

Honestly if Brady is smart and uses Samuel and CMC in the slot and Anderson and Moore on the outside. Plenty of mismatches there with creativity. I’d like to see a solid power/tough yardage ball carrier and a couple of oline moves and the offense won’t be too shabby with a proper scheme.

    • I mean, no I’m not going to panic when he got 2 Qs and looked great in 1 and looked not great in another (let’s not mention the drop).    Yeah we finally have a team that would be considered average offensively around him. Let’s roll this season.
    • The woe is me everything but Bryce sucks mantra is stale af my friend. Look nobody here is going to argue with the fact Frank Reich was not a good head coach. At the same time. Bryce Young is now in his second season with his second coaching staff and a handpicked young offensive head coach who has been known for working with QB's such as Baker and Geno. As far as the offensive pieces around Bryce we have the 4th highest salary cap allocation (that might be even higher now after the new Moton deal) dedicated to the OL in the entire league. We have 2 first round WR's one of them 8th overall the first time we've ever selected a WR that high in franchise history. And the fact of the matter is Bryce Young did not have a good preseason. It's not the first time it's happened either. We all hope to see he and the rest of the team flip a switch in week 1. But we should all be able to agree that the offensive performances we've seen from the entire QB room (Bryce included) in preseason was simply unacceptable.
    • We have seen Bryce play… what… 9 games with AT BEST what one would consider NFL average WRs? You just can’t see the forest for the trees and keep going back to your lazy take of revisionist history.    he looked AWFUL Y1 with the worst coaching I’ve ever seen in the NFL and one of the weakest WR rooms I can recall. He looked awful first half of y2 and great second half of y2 with average coaching and average skill position. I don’t know where this elite talent argument even comes from.
