Prediction- The panthers will fail to sign a GM in waiting after the draft

After getting schooled by Herniay, Matt Rhule will take over GM duties at the end of the 2020 season(if it happens). Similar to not needing a former head coach, Rhule will believe he doesnt need a GM and get all the power.

Honestly, wasn't that the perceived snafu with the Giants and Rhule?  Rhule wanted more control over the personnel.  Am I remembering this correctly?

I believe first time NFL coach money was the issue. His agent called the giants and told them the panthers offer, they couldnt believe it or get close to it. Rhule broke all records for 1st year coaching contract in years and money. Giants are like the Lakers/Yankees, where they think their history is very valuable. Times have changed some, its not. Money, money money. fyi Rhule is higher paid than Andy Reid and many others.

I know people cant understand this.  Hurney is our GM and its not going to change anytime soon.  Get used to it.

Rodrigue confirmed that Hurney's contract is up after this season. He'd need an extension to stay as GM.

Granted, that's possible, but it hasn't happened yet. It's also possible, as Tepper has hinted, that he gets offered a different role.

Word for the moment is still that the Panthers will hire an assistant GM who'll take over for him.

After this season isnt anytime soon.  Many huddlers actually believe he will just make the draft picks then disapear.  Not going to happen.  I agree this is probably his last year in Carolina(and most likely GM all together)

Rhule & Tepper are making the calls with informational input from Hurndog.

Hiring someone else would simply be a waste of money and despite his vast wealth Tepper grew up poor and still values a dolla.

PS...plenty of folks work without a contract,  I'm sure Hurndog would be perfectly amenable to doing so.

What other option does he have?
