Another report of Samuel being someone who could possibly be traded

Where there is smoke...fire? This has been brought up multiple times this offseason, and the latest is CBS sports in an article just posted yesterday. Any way you see this happening? I know a team source stated before that we are not shopping Samuel, but we all know how that goes...

Nice find-War--way to work the wires.  There sure is a lot of smoke--a potential draft day deal?

All three teams you have mentioned have expressed some interest in trading on draft day----

Why trade a 23-year old #2 that who is better on the roster than what can be had in a realistic trade?

A wildly, crazy good deal would be to get his draft value back of a 2nd round pick.  Highly unlikely.  A 3rd, possible, but still a little much. So we would trade Samuel who is still on an upward trend for a 4th, 5th or 6th round pick?

Makes zero sense.

I feel like it’s just speculation based on the way we added like 10 WRs in FA, but I think it would be foolish. The only WR we added that might be better than Samuel is Anderson. The others aren’t even close.  Seems we’d be giving up way too early on him, but Rhule has already shown he’d rather have guys he brings in rather than better players so anything is possible.

Why would anyone trade for a WR when they could draft one in the first 3 rounds and have them on a rookie deal for 4 years? Unless there are other issues, seems like trading him to spend that pick on replacing him. Again, why if we don't get 2 picks and he isn't worth all that much anyways. Just weird and makes no sense.

It made zero sense when we drafted him in the second round.

Samuel has been a good red zone target. Other than that, he’s the next biggest piece of trash after Short. Kid has speed and that’s all. Terrible hands, cannot run routes and will not fight for the ball.

Because it’s a passing league and receivers will start coming off the board like toilet papers. You’re not getting a Denzel Mims in the 3rd. Maybe a Chase Claypool but not a Aiyuk.

Samuel isn’t a #2. He’s now hoping to be the #3. Just because the kid was the #2 last season doesn’t mean he’s a legit #2. That proves how bad we were at WR last season. CMC has been our best receiver the last two straight seasons.

Still trading a young player for a pick to replace him with. From a distance that is treading water for us, unless an issue is involved, and compared to other options why wouldn't  the other team spend that draft pick on a rookie WR and not Samuels? It makes no sense at a distance. Now that could change with details but not at face value.

Because there are some teams that are dumb enough to believe that they have the right coaches to teach Samuel to run routes and catch the football. Not everyone in the professional league is smart.

Well, we cut Cam and his $20M contract to sign Teddy to his $60M+ contract, so it seems like we have a fetish for treading water with a boat anchor tethered to our ankle.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
