Not trying to defend Marty at all but "good" is drastically underselling Ryan Kalil. He was a 5 time Pro Bowler and a 2 time All-Pro.

On the flipside, calling Marshall "solid" seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

And wasn't Gaulden a third round pick?

keary colbert

our 2nd round pick is almost certainly going to be horrific, streaming garbage. no reason to expect anything else since its been over ten years since hurney selected a good player in the 2nd round.

Wasn’t Gaulden a 3rd round pick? Looks like the development of Jackson and Little will tell if he is 50/50 or terrible in the 2nd round...

Yeah, Marshall was okay for a little bit. Not sure I would say solid. More of a flash in the pan.

Gaulden was a 3rd.

I remember going to see a practice and hearing new DC Ron Meeks calling after him when they were moving to a defensive drill.

He yelled "Where's Richard Marshall? Where's Richard Marshall? Is he running?"

My bad on the Gaulden mix-up. Also forgot some guys. Revised list of Hurney 2nd rounders:

RB DeShaun Foster
RB Eric Shelton
WR Keary Colbert
WR Dwayne Jarrett
OL Bruce Nelson
OL Amini Silatolu
OL Greg Little
OL Ryan Kalil
DE Everette Brown
DB Sherrod Martin
DB Donte Jackson
DB Richard Marshall

So I guess we're all saying Marshall wasn't solid. And then Foster had those two awesome runs in the 2003 playoffs before having more fumbles than touchdowns for us. Everyone else besides Kalil.... bad.

We'll probably take some free-falling formerly major prospects as well (IE Jimmy Clausen, Dan Connor, Duke Robinson, Greg Hardy, Everette Brown, Greg Little, Dwayne Jarrett, etc) on days 2 and 3 who then immediately proceed to bust (with the caveat of Hardy being good before slamming a toilet seat on his girlfriend's head).

I just don't see any reason to expect Hurney to make a good pick in the 2nd or anywhere past the first round, where he is admittedly a remarkable drafter and quite possibly the best in the league, which is fuging insane to me. Anyway, feel free to smash on the poo button because I insulted a GM who has built a playoff team 3 times in 13 years lmao!

I just see so much available talent...

CBs: Diggs, Gladney, Fulton, Johnson, Noah I, Dantzler

WRs: Reagor, Hamler, Aiyuk, Pittman

DE/5T: Davidson, Terrell Lewis, Jon Greenard, Darrell Taylor (overlooked), Alton Robinson

LB: Logan Wilson, Uche, Malik Harrison, Davis-Gaither

S: Dugger, Chinn

C/G: Ruiz, Cushenberry, Hennessy

All I'm saying is get ready for a potential out of nowhere selection if it's not James Lynch (lawls).

Anyone jump out to y'all?  Content with staying put?   Maybe trading down and getting an extra 3rd or 4th?

Let's hear it!

I don't doubt that there is talent left in the second round, I just don't trust Hurney to draft the right talent. He has failed as a GM in the later rounds. Acquiring more picks in the later rounds for him to blow does not seem like a good idea. That's why I argue about moving out of top 10 to accumulate more picks. TBH, the only players that jump out to me that made an impact and had longevity with the team is Kalil, Charles Johnson, Steve Smith, Josh Norman, KK (Hurney didn't draft).
