NFL.com reports Bengals Releasing Andy Dalton

Cinci did draft a pretty good tackle to protect Dalton's blind side last year, but he got injured during the pre-season and never got a snap last year during the regular season.

It will be interesting to see how they play in a year where they essentially have 2 nice first round picks playing during the regular season for the the first time. It should at least boost their fortunes a little bit.

I hope the Cam nut huggers finally realize something.  As great as you think a player was or might be, you do not "commit" to guy whose future is cloudy.  Cam wanted a long-term extension.  Now he can be acquired with no trade and he is sitting on the side of the dance floor like Honey Boo Boo at her prom.  Bill Belichick has Stidham and Hoyer as his QBs, and he passed on Cam.  Maybe he will live to regret it, but I doubt it.

Oh how the huggers got mad at the realists. You called us haters and racists. That had to be it, right?  It could not be that you have the business sense of a drunken sailor at port in Thailand--it had to be personal because Cam Newton is superman. Heck,  we had a contract with Cam for $100+m and he did not earn it--but you wanted to pay him 150% of that amount for another 4 years---while making excuses for 2016, 2018, and 2019.

Now Cam is out there on the open market, where his value is not attached to some emotion.  Breaking up is hard to do, but it is necessary at times.  Money talks--and a lot of money is thrown around by teams desperate for a QB---and Cam sits there with a cardboard sign as traffic whizzes by.  That, my friends, is the reality of this business-why you do not spend $100m on some emotional flashback.

Amen.  Panthers look to finally be in the business of winning, and not the family business that JR had us mired in for so long.

#1 played well for a couple of seasons here including one great one, but the time for nostalgia is over.  His future is the ring of honor and that's about it.

The problem with this fanbase is that Cam was the first real #1 draft pick QB this franchise has ever had. It’s like getting that hot girlfriend for the first time that is way outside your league. But then you realize she is a gold digger and taking all your money. You don’t want to cut ties with her because she is a hot thing, but you know you have to.

you have the rational people that would let go.

and you have the people in this fanbase that would stick with her regardless of how much money she’s taking you for.

Thanks for showing your true colors. Lots of people are proud to pound their chest because the QB they never wanted due to reasons not related to the football field is finally not on the team anymore. Now you get to rev that engine a little louder.

    • Them playing behind a couple more seasoned guys until they get familiar with coverage and pace of play is a good thing though. We really can use them to spell the other guys, and in situational ball especially with Ransom on possible run/blitzing downs.
    • They fuged him over so bad to help cover their bad judgement. About time he got a little something to wrk with.
    • I think completion percentage is a bit of a overinflated stat for a qb too. People place to much stock into it. So many factors to consider with it : receivers, how many attempts are made deep, the defense etc all play a roll in it. When it’s considerably low 50% or less the QB accuracy can come into question. But I don’t think it’s necessarily one of the better percentages to put so much importance into for that position. General effectiveness is far more indicative of the QB you have. First downs, 3rd and 4th down conversions, points scored and clutch plays IMO is how you grade a QB. Always bothered the poo out of me how people downed Cam for his completion percentage and that’s what they used to disregard him as an all time great. Dude damn near averaged 3tds to 1 turnover a game and was an obvious difference maker for us.
