Rumor: Panthers Interested in Acquiring Haason Reddick

Recommended Posts

Redick's value is little to none. Arizona has yet to figure out how to utilize him and I'm sure would be more than happy to unload him for any compensation. He's in the last year of his rookie contract and there's almost no chance they pick up his 5th year option. Probably the only reason they haven't publicly declined it already is to inflate some trade value thinking teams might be stupid enough to offer something meaningful. I'd be ok with offering a conditional 6th if he meets some significant metrics (e.g. plays > 60% of snaps) that drops to a 7th if he doesn't, banking on the Rhule connection and former 1st rounder upside. But outside of that, I wouldn't bite.

Yeah, I am okay making a trade for a 6th rounder or lower. Other than that, I am just not seeing it. We can just sign him as a free agent next year. It's also just a one year deal, so trading almost any draft capital for that seems illogical.

After reading an article on him, It seems like he struggled on the inside, but I have no idea why they moved him from the outside to the inside in the first place. Maybe Arizona wasn't patient enough and put someone else on the outside to get quicker results and then were desperate to find a starting spot for him since he's a first rounder?

I would definitely take a shot on him for a low price. He was very talented coming out of Temple and is familiar with Rhule and Snow’s D. Could be a rewarding reclamation project.

Undersized edge guy in college having trouble adjusting to LB in the NFL.  We already have one of those with Haynes.  I'd swap the two straight up, but that's about it.  No higher than a 7th rounder to sweeten the deal.

I’d first check their roster and see if with them draft he’s even going to make the team. They can cut him and save $2.3M so it’s not like they wouldn’t benefit from not having him on the roster. We tend to jump in too quick thinking anyone other than us sees value in this guy. No one else does and if he actually wants to play a few more years then playing for Rhule is probably his best chance.

Jumping in too quick is how we wasted two really valuable picks that could have been our starting C (McCoy) and RG (Evans) on Little and how we paid $3.5M for Seth Roberts and how we cornered the bridge QB market while NO hot a higher ceiling QB for $20M less.

They can't save any money by cutting him. He is on his rookie deal. All that money is guaranteed. They could perhaps cut him but he has been a productive backup for them, so I don't see why they would unless roster spots are tight.

I posted this a week ago. It makes too much sense...

He’s not OL but Arizona would “gladly” move on from Haason Reddick.

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/arizonasports.com/story/1103248/former-temple-coach-matt-rhule-on-haason-reddick-hes-everything-thats-right-with-college-football/amp/

Rhule on Reddick:

“I love Haason,” Rhule told Doug and Wolf Friday on 98.7 FM, Arizona’s Sports Station. “He’s everything that’s right with college football. He’s tough, he’s hard-nosed. He got his degree and played so hard for us and so well for us and helped us turn this program around.

“You’re really kind of getting versatility, you’re getting two players in one,” the coach said. “He’s a guy who can play off the ball and be a weakside inside linebacker and use that 4.5 speed to cover guys out of the backfield and at the same time, I think he can be a tremendous weapon blitzing. Not many running backs are going to be able to block this kid.

“And he’s a great nickel rusher. You get into the sub packages — he can put his hand in the ground and his burst and athleticism and getting up the field are elite, even at that level, so I think they’ll use him probably as a combination off-the-ball linebacker, but also knowing they have a tremendous nickel pass rusher as well.”

Be interesting to see if Rhule makes a play for him

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
