Horrible Drafts

Not talking about the Panthers drafts, in this case; the NFL Draft in general and the first round specifically.

I'm wondering which draft in the 2000s people would consider as having the worst first round.

Not really horrible but 2013 was pretty pedestrian

good thing we went with simmons over brown, then.

I don’t think Brown will ever be a great DT. People that think Brown will be a 7-10 sack guy will be disappointed. Think Vita Vea and what he’s doing for that whole Bucs defense

2013 was horrible. There are always some good players in the 1st, it's almost impossible to not have some good players. That said, from picks 1-19, there was truly only 1 player, Lane Johnson, who you could say was worth a 1st round pick. That includes Star. Even Ansah, 7 years and 50 sacks? That's OK, not pick 5 value. I mean, in the top 19, you had Luke Joeckel, Dion Jordan, Barkevious Mingo, Jonathan Cooper, Tavon Austin, Dee Milliner, Chance Warmack, DJ Fluker, DJ Hayden, EJ Manuel and Jarvis Jones. 11 of the top 19 were literally useless. There were more terrible players in the rest of the first and a number of mediocre players as well. Hopkins and Frederick were the best two in the 1st round and a couple other OL were solid. The rest day 2 type guys to awful.

I think Brown is basically Kris Jenkins minus the weight/motivation issues. That's definitely a great DT.,

In our time of instant gratification and stat Kings it is easy to say that Brown will not be a great DT. If Brown commands a double team every play does it matter if Brown or Short, or Burns gets the sack or pressure. I don’t think people realize how dangerous Star made this defense when he was here, spoiler he made Short look like a hall of famer. Brown will be a stud for us and the best pick we could have had this year. I predict we will wreak havoc this year or next on that D line.

Agree, except for Star.  He is absolutely worth a 1.  Top 10?  Probably not...but in that draft class, he should have gone top 5.

Like some others have said, the 2013 draft immediately comes to mind.  What's crazy is that the Detroit Lions...who normally suck at everything...managed to sift thru a bad draft and have a good draft.  They coached the senior bowl that year, so I'm wondering how much that helped?

The 2008 draft stands out to me because the back half of the 1st round was clearly better than the first half.

The 2009 draft was pretty bad as well, in many ways rivaling the 2013 draft.

poo, thats a Hall of Fame type player.  Jenkins was maybe the best DT in the game when he was with us.  He just got injured/paid/fat/lazy whatever.
