Players opting out

Big wave of opt outs have come in today. Haven’t seen any Panthers so far but with the deadline being this Saturday I bet we see at least 1 soon. Chiefs starting guard opted out, our old buddy Star opted out, Patriots are dropping like flies —like 5 starters for them have opted out already. Post any other news you got, or thoughts.

If I had to guess which Panthers could opt out I’d say Boston is a possibility as he made some comments about not playing due to health concerns or social justice stuff, etc. Maybe Samuel with his heart condition. Otherwise, any older veteran is a possibility but none really stand out.

It’s a crap shoot really. It seems players are opting out for a variety of reasons...pregnant wife, new child, at risk family members, etc.

im sure we will have at least one player.

Yep. Opt outs alone can honestly change the landscape of the league a ton, maybe as much as in-season COVID outbreaks for teams. Even if Cam is healthy and balls out, this Pats team ain’t winning poo this year. Assuming the season does happen.

My thought is since we mostly have guys who are trying to prove they belong as a starter or on a roster we’d have less players opt out than winning teams with bigger names. Could actually be a benefit to us.

Looks like the Pats aren’t even going to have a chance at being good.

Not going to hold it against any player for opting out, but no surprise to see Star on that list.

where do you think cam gets traded.  one of their starting ot's already opted out.  if its true they're gonna have to trade him or say he was having trouble with the playbook, not enough time to 'gel'...

    • We have without question one of the worst QB rooms in the league and your key concern is people having the audacity to be talking about it lol.
    • I saw this list crossing the screen waiting for any Panther.  Chubba, JC Horn and Hunt.  It was a crime to see so many that were not as good as these three.  ESPN is garbage anyhow.
    • Bingo!  We are on the same page.  Our scouting department was average under Hurney, but at least we hit hit it out of the park with our first rounders.  Our scouting department under Tepper's reign with his revolving doors of HCs and GMs has sucked because the scouts largely stay in place.  One or two may change every few years, but the core philosophy stays in place and I believe that to be heavily RAS influenced.    Looking the part of a football player (physical/athletic measurables) vastly outweighs putting on the tape and deep diving into his stats with our scouting department. Until we change that mindset, this team is doomed. Again, how many of us Huddlers (none of us are professional scouts) wanted McConkey over Legette? Yet, we went with XL.  Why?  RAS score, pure and simple.  If you put on the tape and look at the numbers without taking RAS into account, McConkey was the clear choice.
