"GOAT!"

"HELD EVERYONE TO A HIGH STANDARD!"

"MADE HIS TEAMMATES BETTER!"

"HE WAS JUST TRYING TO GET THEM TO MATCH HIS INTENSITY!"

*Steve Smith does the same things*

"SHORT MAN SYNDROME!"

"SHITTY TEAMMATE!"

"CANCER!"

winning really changes entire perceptions lol

Smitty did not make everyone around him better.  That is the central issue.  I think just the opposite.  He made the other WRs worse.  Not a good teammate--abusive and belittling.  Transitioning from the NCAA to NFL is tough--that is why so many don't succeed.  To have some teammate who sucker punches teammates and bad mouths them at practice and in games etc. is exactly the point.  Now he is doing it from retirement.

There are plenty of things respectful people choose not to say, even if they’re not wrong. Not being wrong is not a justification to say something.

You know...that is the lessons we teach our 6 year old who yells out things like ‘that lady is fat!’ Unfortunately, not everything understands these important lessons.

I’ve worked with Smith for years and know quite a bit  about him. He is not a good person and he is the type who does not say anything unless it’s negative or a critique. Even to people he likes. He attracts damaged people. I feel bad for him, that kind of stress does not lead to a long, happy life.

Right, hence my pointing out his ‘Napoleon complex’ which clearly drives his behavior. I guarantee you though, if he didn’t have that mindset he’d have never come near the NFL or the success he’s had. You don’t have to like the guy but he is who he is.

Say whatever you want. 89 won us games single handily and was a nightmare for every defensive coordinators. But, believe what you want.

Not what the thread is about.  Off topic.  Focus.  Keep your eye on the ball.  Stay alert.

Maybe those WRs sucked.

We all like to poo to Deangelo and the things he has said are crazy but I still really respect how he treated J Stew after he was drafted and feel like the only reason we had those successful running years was because he was not prideful and put the team first.

Lol what? DeAngelo never put the team first. He admitted as much in an interview with Mac last year when he said “I played the game for the money, not to win.” He also used to RT fans who tweeted at him saying Ron sucked and he should let DeAngelo run it more instead of making Cam throw it. Saw those on multiple occasions.

The keys to the incredible 2008-09 seasons running the ball were 1) great zone blocking and 2) phenomenal performances from DeAngelo and JStew.
