Skip Bayless on depression.

This isn't exactly Carolina Panthers, but I do think it is important to talk about, whether your are an NFL player, or Joe who works at a gas station. 

I'm not one to jump up and down and call for someone to be fired or cancelled or anything like that, but this is just a take in modern society we cannot nor should not have, especially on such a large platform like Skip has. Depression and any other form of mental health issues are not something you can choose to turn on and off, it is not something most people deal with well, it is not something we can shelve for later. It is a nasty shadow within our own existence that we must face head on, we must encourage others to face it, we must encourage others to talk about it, we must encourage others to not be scared of speaking on what they feel, speaking on how it makes them feel.

This is not exclusive to ANYONE, no matter our social status, our wealth or lack thereof, our age, gender, etc etc. EVERYONE can deal with these type of things in life, and this kind of rhetoric, this kind of tough it out mentality, leads to suicides every year. Men and women who feel like they have to hide their pan behind some kind of tough facade, have to hide it to not bother others, hide it for fear of loss of friendship or status.
This rhetoric is not okay, and Skip should be immediately taken off the air for this kind of irresponsible and hurtful talk.

I have a family member that has been treated for clinical depression. Bayless has no idea what he's talking about. How are you supposed to feel when your brother kills himself? fuging idiot.

Yea this triggered me a bit hearing it this morning. We all know Bayless is a caricature at this point but comments like these can have deep impacts on people struggling with these issues and those around them. Screw Bayless for questioning Dak as a leader. Expressing something like this, about your twin brother nonetheless, publicly is both part of his own healing process and part of raising awareness for the rest of us. It IS being a leader.

A producer literally told Skip to say this poo before going on air. And because Skip is a highly paid actor, he said it. I seriously doubt this is his real opinion. That being said, Skip and the producers should have known this was a very bad and dangerous take.

Horrible thing to say. That being said, we tend to throw people away pretty quickly. He shouldn’t lose his job if he is willing to have a discussion about it and apologize. Bring some experts in to talk about it and educate him. Best thing to do for America. Show that people can grow.

Rewatching, Producers and Skip need a lesson in the difference between sympathy and empathy. I guess at some point you approach the issue of “ what’s the appropriate balance between being a public figure as a commodity and acknowledging the humanity of said figures.” Maybe that’s where Skip is coming from. He’s sold his own soul so can’t empathize with those who haven’t.

Pretty much all that needs to be said. Skip, Stephen A, Cowherd, Rome, etc. are basically just professional trolls. They're best to be tuned out and ignored.

Trying to see Skip's point of view about football being a "dog eat dog" world and it is a battle of wills. He doesn't like Dak going public because it is "ammunition" for the opposition to find cracks or get him rattled. 

His take is dangerous because he comes across as it is weak to seek out help from others, just deal with your issues privately. Which is the stigma of mental health that we are trying to eradicate. 

However, I dont agree with the idea of canceling him. We shouldn't just throw people away because we don't agree with them or they come across as insensitive. I agree with earlier poster, bring people in to educate him and share their thoughts.

Skip Bayless should've been shown the door a long time ago. He claimed Troy Aikman was gay, bashes LeBron James 24/7, and now this latest controversy about Dak Prescott's depression. The public should've been up in arms WAY before his disgusting comments about Dak

Yes, I know he's a troll and is acting, but he wasn't acting when he made those comments about Dak.
