Trey Lance will realistically be within reach

I’ve said it a couple times already but if we draft him I’d sit him for a season or two, let teddy play out his contract and mentor, build up the oline and give him a chance to work on the finer points of the qb position. In everything I’ve watched he rarely had to throw the ball into tight windows because he literally never had to. NDSU is just too dominant in that division.

His arm is crazy. Throws 50 yard tds effortlessly and can run and scramble and throw the ball from different angles but he needs nfl coaching in practices and preseason games until we put him out there. I wouldn’t rush him.

I doubt it. The only reason a few people are saying this is because of the conference and relatively small, albeit extremely successful body of work.

And the previous QBs to come out from that conference and competition level: Carson Wentz and Josh Allen. This is the first real good job Allen as done and Wentz already looks like his NFL career as a starter might not be much longer. But he also helped Philly win a Super Bowl and looked like an MVP.

Boom or bust.

All these QBs are boom or bust.  Except maybe Manning.  Lance may be worth a shot but will need to see him go through the predraft process.

Lance as a top 10 pick right now seems really expensive.  Reminds me of Jordan Love without all the ints.

Agree with RumGones comments he is definitely going to need lots of time to develop.

One guy I am keeping an eye on this Kyle Trask at Florida.  He looked incredible average early last year but he is ascending.  Not flashy but solid and accurate.  Wouldn’t mind the Florida TE either.  Pitts can play.

Gator fan here. Pitts should be the first TE off the board. Just an absolute stud. Kyle has been what we’ve been missing in Florida for years. A guy who can complete passes and not kill us every week. He should be a day 2 kid as of now but he could also blossom in his final year. He never started in high school.

    • My friend, pretty much stayed at his level for the next 30 years. But he is own boss and happy I guess. Not a bad guy personally.  That is probably Tepper.
    • Banking your hopes on a couch FA that has a cup of tea NFL career to date as an almost 31 year old QB is certainly something. Especially when you consider that he has spent literally zero time in our offense so far. I think that White might be solid competition and possibly be better than Hendon Hooker, which is certainly a very low bar to clear.  That's probably about where the level is for White. He's a potential upgrade to our PS QB.
    • I need to look more into how pass block win rate is calculated. Like, if the other team gets a coverage sack because nobody is open and the guy I am blocking gets free to pressure/sack the QB after 5 seconds, is that considered a pass block "loss"? I honestly don't think our pass blocking has been that bad this year (outside of Nijman at LT week 1 and Zavala for 2 out of 3 games). For the most part, teams aren't getting by with a 4 man rush and are having to blitz. Looks like teamrankings says we are 10th in sacks allowed (1.7/game) - and that isn't because we have a QB getting the ball out at an elitely quick rate.
