QB Watch 2021: Kyle Trask on a Burrow-esque trajectory?

Florida has a great OL this year but regardless, Trask is going be a mega climber if he keeps this up.

6 TDs against Ole Miss.

Let me also say: These guys won't be 1st rounders but keep your eyes on Sam Ehlinger and Tanner Morgan this season.  Lawrence is the head honcho, but depending on how the season unfolds, people may be talking up Trask or Ehlinger ahead of Fields & Lance by the end of it.  My 2 cents.

Slow release, mediocre arm strength, and playing with a ton of talent. I'm not sold. Good for him for having a good game statistically, but honestly he threw up a bunch of prayers. His receivers (Pitts specifically) were just talented enough to go get the ball. He looks like a career backup in the NFL if he is lucky. Just being honest.

To retort for discussion:

6'5 240 with his touch and mentality is not a backup type to me.  It's a boom/bust.  I keep reading about how he has one of the biggest arms in the CF ranks so maybe it's just his conservative targeting you're seeing in the vid?  The mechanics and footwork no doubt need improvement but I don't see many backups in the league at that size.  He's a Josh Allen/Big Ben type mamma jamma.

I don't like Purdy, Mond or Newman but these guys are the remaining that could have a mid season rise.  It happens every year, just like there's a post-bowl/pre-draft riser.

He threw into coverage and let the receivers do the work many times. The receivers out-manned the corners to come down with the ball. That doesn't take talent. He almost underthrew a wide open Pitts downfield, Pitts adjusted and stiff armed the defender to out run him to the endzone.

I'm just saying that if he does have the arm strength and accuracy, he didn't display it enough in this game. And his wind up is going to tip defenders all day in the NFL. I may be wrong. But I'm going based off of what I saw him do. Pitts earned more recognition in this game than Trask.

Trask had another very strong outing against a better defense in the Gamecocks.

Kyle Pitts is also an absolute madman but Trask is really coming together.   They've got A&M coming up.  Another gradual step up/ranked opponent.

Crazy that he somehow got beat out by a guy name feleipe franks multiple times.

Just never know when the game clicks for some people.  Felt like Burrow went from another "bro" SEC QB/good college/potentially middling pro to absolute stud in the blink of an eye.
