You understand that rooting for us to lose in order to win long term by drafting a stud Quarterback is the ultimate display of love.

Same as a parent who spanks their child in order to help them grow up to be a great adult.

Sometimes you have to do things you don't like in order to hit the ultimate goal.

Except the team isn't going to do that. Who cares what the fans want. Not them, that's for sure. We have zero chance of ending up with the first pick unless TB gets injured.

If you aren't rooting for TB and the team, it's due to one of these three reasons and these three reasons only:

1. You're still butthurt about what happened to Cam.

2. You aren't a Panthers fan, never were. You were a Cam Fan.

3. You think we have a shot at Lawrence or Fields.

That's it. There is no other reason not to applaud OUR quarterback.

I think the number of people actively 'not rooting for Teddy' is small. Objective and realistic good-faith discussions about a player's potential don't mean that people hope they fail.

At the start of the season I would have been solidly in #3, Given TB has so far exceeded my expectations and the fact home field advantage is negligible due to covid I'm just pulling like hell for us to make the playoffs because anything can happen there.

Aside from all the research on spanking...

A great QB may be the most important piece of a good team, but it isn't the only piece.  Not only is there no guarantee that an early drafted QB is actually a stud, if they're brought in to a bad team, there's no guarantee they'll be anything but wasted (just look at the NY teams, the Browns, etc).

I'd prefer to have a team on the rise with a chance to take a QB that can learn behind TB, or, to go with another position of need if TB continues to improve.

Just think, if we lose out we have a chance to draft the future of our Franchise with a sure fire Pro Bowler like:

David Carr

Joey Harrington

Robert Griffin III

Blake Bortles

Vince Young

Marcus Mariotta

Mitch Tribusky

Jamis Winston

Sam Darnold

Sam Bradford

Mark Sanchez

Carson Wentz

That's all impeccable evidence you need a Top 5 pick to get a Super Bowl caliber QB in the NFL since 2000. I mean just look at the top QBs in the league today:

Aaron Rodgers

Patrick Mahomes

Lamar Jackson

Ben Roethlisberger

Dak Prescott

Russel Wilson

Drew Brees

Tom Brady

Josh Allen

All those guys picked in the first 5 picks. All the evidence I need.

You'd have to be an idiot not to see that you need a Top 5 pick to get a REAL QB.

You have to be an idiot to not want to control your own fate.

I'd much rather take Trevor and have him bust than go 7-9 11-5 the next four or 5 years with Teddy.

I'd rather strike out hitting on a 10 at the bar than take the easy bang with some 165lb whale

the jury is out on teddy but we haven't seen that yet. we have seen likable, efficient, chippy chad pennington.

i hope his deep ball develops with the offensive gel and makes me eat my doubts.

Efficiency can carry a team also.  Fans get caught up with a players ceiling, but there have been plenty of QBs capable of the spectacular play who at the end of the day really didn't help their team win.

Are we winning because of Teddy or in spite of Teddy?

How many QBs in the league would make us better?  How many would make us worse?

Answer those questions and that tells you if he is a franchise QB or not.

Panthers were predicted to go 0-16 and are currently 2-2 (easily could be 3-1) with an offense that is humming and all this with brand new everything coaches, players etc...the QB is the Alpha Dog and Teddy has already proven himself to be a franchise QB --- only going to get better from here!

This 1000. He's taking according to a lot of you the worst roster in football before the start of the season on a 2 game winning streak without our best offensive weapon.

I'm curious to know what the definition of "putting the team on his back" means that yall keep referencing.
