Our next quarterback

We all understand who is Teddy 2 Gloves at this point: an extremely solid backup QB, who could start in a few teams. What we saw against the Bears is a classic Teddy performance against a team with a good defense. This should be a good indicator of what could happen to us in the playoffs with Teddy driving the offense. He is not the future, we all know this. For those who don't, I think the next few weeks (Saints, Falcons, Chiefs, Bucs) will show you why he is not, and I really dont want to sound pessimistic.

Our next franchise QB will be not be someone we get via free agency or via trade, that is not how Matt Rhule do things. He likes to build his teams following his own ways, and therefore, our next QB will be someone we draft.

There are 3 QBs that are seen as potential franchise QB, and the word "potential" is important here.

Here they are:

- Trey Lance : High risk/high reward QB, Matt Rhule likes a challenge, I could see it happening.

- Justin Fields: Accuracy, size, mobility, dude has it all. He also seem to be a great leader. He could be gone in the top 3. The only way I could see us making a move for him is if coach Rhule has a massive crush on him. This seems unlikely because if Rhule is willing to go all in and trade away picks, I think there is someone who could be worth more to Matt Rhule, which brings us to the next player.

- Trevor Lawrence: Supposedly the next Andrew Luck, the next John Elway. Lawrence would fit perfectly with the Panthers. He loves the city and he loves to compete. Do you really think he would like to bring his talent to a sh*tshow like the Jets? What if he pulls out like Eli? I don't think it's far-fetched and if he does teams are going to call in like crazy for that #1 pick. It would be a matter of what we are willing to offer. I think the Jets would be willing to part with the pick the right price. If the Jets asked for our whole 2021 draft capital + 2 first + 1 of DJ Moore/Brian Burns, I would do it in a heartbeat. Matt Rhule has proved in 6 weeks that he can develop talent, so I would not be worried with no first for the next few years. Back in march, many around the NFL belived that Panthers were planing to tank for Lawrence in 2021, you can search it. Do you think that's a coincidence? Lawrence wants to play for the Panthers and the Panthers want him. But just how bad?

Panthers wont get any of them, we are a 6-7 win team right now. Lawrence goes to the Jets, Fields to possibly Atlanta if they continue to lose, and Lance goes to the Football Team. Either way, the top 3 picks could all be QB. We might consider Trask but I dont think he's near as good as the others. Our next QB could come in 2022.

Honestly I wouldn’t be mad if we get a top OL, or LB in the draft and take a QB like Jamie Newman in round 2/3 to develop and learn behind Teddy for a year or two.

I would love to extend Moton, resign Okung to a short deal if he takes it, draft a top interior OL/C in the first and with the 2/3 round take a developmental QB and solid LB.

Give up an entire draft and forfeiting multiple first round picks and a solid player with still 2-3 years left on their rookie contract to develop a QB!? Lol this is comical. Panthers are about 4 players away from being a good football team. We also will have a lot of dead money coming off the books here soon to make an addition or two. If Teddy doesn’t pan out there will be another QB interested to come play with all this talent and coaching we are developing. You can’t give up an entire draft class plus multiple first round picks for a single player.

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
