Rhule Postgame

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

A few highlights...

Talks a lot about Bridgewater being under too much pressure and the team not controlling the line of scrimmage

Mentions that shortly after his pick, Donte Jackson went out with an injury

Describes the secondary in the second half as being manned by "guys who were practicing punt coverage"

Emphasizes a couple of times that "we just didn't play well enough to win"

Give me Okung, Douglas, and a competent “Mike”, and we would be a very dangerous team. Terrible oline play, forced us to only run on the right side, and ATL crowding the line confused our starting oline assignments. Good game plan from ATL. Expect nothing but the same from our next opponents until we can get our assignments fixed. Also, unfortunately we could have used Apple or a warm body in the flats last night. Mr. Toner made some errant guesses on cleat depth, of course in his defense it is almost impossible to guess how much rain you will get or how quick the field deteriorates in spots after play. I saw very little slippage on ATL, and I was watching Pride, Jr on ice and doing the watermelon crawl.

1. In a rebuild year, not enough depth or talent to deal with injuries

2. Linebackers, even without injuries, are non existent

3. Someone tell Phil snow this team  a) doesn’t have the depth for a 3 man line with the back  eight skill level.  b) or the talent (see two above)    c) both are needed to run  it in the NFL

4.  OL bad    No surprise there   A solution for the center needed to be found at season’s start

5. Offensive  Play calls worse

6. Christian’s return will help 4 and 5

7. Mike Davis, very very slow

8. Teddy Bridgewater is the least physical QB I’ve seen. I mean no disrespect by that but if he is touched he goes down and watching him run, Lord have mercy...and this was before the cheap shot    He can win with a perfect oline and CMC and a great defense. Two of those are a ways away.  He may not survive his three year contract physically

9   The Panthers are what their record says they are and what we all expected   They May  win one or two more games and that’s OK

10  if Rhule needs a barometer of players and coaches ability, he is getting it with the last three games plus KC in 10 days

He’s not wrong.... If it wasn’t for Boston falling into the back of Jones near the end of the game.... Boston’s Jersey would still look brand new! At this point I think Sir Purr would be a better choice!

Put THAT BEAR in the game!!!!

Also, If we had McCaffery last night and only used him in the slot in 11 personnel, we may have won that game. We had no hot routes or no one free underneath. ATL sit on 10 in routes, and the protection did not allow deep throws. But McCaffery in the slot could still have won those matchups. Our screen game was bad, ATL must have seen something on film, each one was almost a turnover or at least a 4-5 yard loss.

This, you can only do so much to overcome lack of talent and depth

There's only so much you can do to bolster your depth when you're among the league leaders in dead cap money. That's on the GM.

I cringe every time Teddy takes off to run. It's so unnerving to watch.
