Yep. The first team I really noticed doing it was the Saints in crunch time. There we were out there with not much time left and us only needing a FG to tie. They still had their entire D within 10 yards of the LOS because they know Teddy. That drive managed 28 yards in 11 plays. Here's the full play by play:

1st & 10 at CAR 25
(7:55 - 4th) (Shotgun) T.Bridgewater pass short right to M.Davis pushed ob at CAR 32 for 7 yards (A.Anzalone). Pass 1, YAC 6

2nd & 3 at CAR 32
(7:16 - 4th) (Shotgun) T.Bridgewater pass short middle to R.Anderson to CAR 38 for 6 yards (C.Gardner-Johnson). Pass 3, YAC 3

1st & 10 at CAR 38
(6:30 - 4th) (Shotgun) T.Bridgewater pass short left to D.Moore to CAR 46 for 8 yards (M.Williams). Pass 4, YAC 4

2nd & 2 at CAR 46
(5:45 - 4th) M.Davis right guard to 50 for 4 yards (C.Jordan; M.Jenkins).

1st & 10 at 50
(5:01 - 4th) M.Hartsfield left end to NO 48 for 2 yards (S.Tuttle).

2nd & 8 at NO 48
(4:13 - 4th) (Shotgun) T.Bridgewater pass short left to C.Samuel to NO 43 for 5 yards (M.Jenkins). Pass -3, YAC 8

3rd & 3 at NO 43
(3:29 - 4th) (Shotgun) T.Bridgewater scrambles left end ran ob at NO 38 for 5 yards (S.Rankins).

1st & 10 at NO 38
(3:20 - 4th) (Shotgun) T.Bridgewater pass incomplete short right.

2nd & 10 at NO 38
(3:12 - 4th) (Shotgun) T.Bridgewater pass short left to M.Davis to NO 39 for -1 yards (D.Onyemata; M.Davenport). Pass -6, YAC 5

3rd & 11 at NO 39
(2:25 - 4th) (Shotgun) T.Bridgewater sacked at NO 47 for -8 yards (M.Davenport).

(2:00 - 4th) Two-Minute Warning

4th & 19 at NO 47
(2:00 - 4th) J.Slye 65 yard field goal is No Good, Short, Center-J.Jansen, Holder-J.Charlton.

Seriously. Just look at that. Teddy completed five passes for what combined for a total of -1 yards through the air. The furthest downfield he completed a pass was four yards. That is TRASH.

8 minutes is a lot of time to score 3+ points lol.  Too much time, even.  Dinking and dunking our way down the field on that drive was probably the smart play to get those 5-6 yard chunk plays while taking as much time off the clock as possible.  I'm sure we were trying to avoid giving the ball back to Brees for a possible game-winning drive considering we didn't force a single punt all game.  We had gotten within field goal range after taking almost 5 minutes off the clock so it was clearly working, until it didn't.  We imploded on the last set of downs but I'm not sure the takeaway from that is that Teddy wasn't throwing the ball downfield enough, especially given what happened on the sack.

Do I get frustrated with Teddy's dinking and dunking sometimes?  Yeah....especially as of late.  But that possession isn't really one to criticize him for IMO.  Saints were sending blitzes on many of those plays too and in the rare case they didn't, I actually see Teddy looking downfield for an open receiver.  An example of that was on his 5-yard scramble, where they only rushed 3 and the pocket still collapsed after about 3 seconds lol.

I get it, I just think it's an arrogant way to approach football. IMO, you can't assume the scores - either yours or theirs. You can't be so confident in your ability to score that you slow play your offense and you can't be so unconfident in your D that you eliminate a chunk of your offensive playbook to avoid scoring too quickly. I understand that it's a well accepted strategy, I just philosophically disagree with the approach.

Yeah, we need to be careful blaming this ALL on Teddy. Some of it is scheme and some of it is the same issue we have had forever, a dumpster fire of an OL.

Regarding Grier:

Regardless of who ends up starting (and objectively speaking I'm not sure we have a starter quality quarterback on the roster other than Bridgewater) this is good to hear.

Lack of this kind of philosophy kept Amini Silatolu starting for way too long. Thankfully, we've seen with Greg Little that this isn't the case anymore.

1. Teddy if Teddy can play.

2.  PJ Walker

3.  Curtis Samuel wildcat game

4.  Fake punt every offensive possession

5. maybe Will

* I care about being entertained.  These offer the most entertaining possibilities from a viewer perspective IMO.

I care about winning.

I don't really give a sh-t how much fun a loss was to watch. It's still a loss.

    • Daniel Jeremiah's top 50 players heading into the Combine.  Lol at the people still pining for Styles.  Dude will be LONG gone before our slot as I noted he would be.  Go ahead a keep drafting him at #19 if y'all want to keep ruining/making unrealistic mock drafts.   https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-s-top-50-2026-nfl-draft-prospect-rankings-2-0
    • Kmet is better than just 'meh'.   Mayer took a back seat to Bowers and is another TE that would relish a chance to start again.  Sanders, Temble and Evans is a better group of TEs than we've fielded during the Ian Thomas era, but it's far from stacked.  That's the problem, our TE room has sucked for so long now that  being 'better than crap' is apparently good enough--which it is not.
    • Why? Feels like we got a whole TE crew of almost Kmets. Loveland surpassed Kmet easy and relegated Kmet to Tremble like stats. Kmet’s decent years were because of volume. Kmet had over 90 targets twice in his career. Tremble’s career high in targets is 37. Tremble could produce Kmet numbers with the same volume so why would you ever go for Kmet? Loveland or Bowers type studs, go for it. Meh TEs, we’ve got plenty.
