Seeing Walker makes me see Teddy's limitations too

You can look at the competition we faced today, but there are many things you can see where the competition doesn't matter. Walker showed more arm strength than Teddy has all season. He can zip it into tight spaces and hit the deep ball to receivers in stride. His decision making is quicker than Teddy's, but still needs improvement. However, it's not like Teddy's is world's better. Accuracy and field vision could also use improvement, but again so could Teddy's. His scrambling and running ability is also equal to or better than Teddy's. Walker has to also prove himself under pressure and clutch situations. Something Teddy has continuously failed at all season. I really don't see many things Teddy is better than Walker at. You can compare the two as much as you want, but at the end of the day you've got to ask yourself "Is Teddy worth the money being paid to him right now?". The answer to that is absolutely not.

Teddy is a middle of the road starter and is being paid like it.

I liked a lot of what PJ showed, but he's not the future and he's not better than Teddy.  This is the second fewest points the Lions gave up all year, lol.

The Lions totally mailed it in.  All you need to know is that they scored 0 points against a defense that has forced like 3 punts in the last month leading up to this game. I’m happy we got the win and played well but Teddy would have won this game easily too.  You can’t take much away from it.  It was almost like a preseason game in terms of the intensity the lions played with.

Sure, Walker doesn't seem to have the split-second processing or the decision-making that Bridgewater has (not that I think that Teddy has been sterling in his decision making this season), but his arm, athleticism and more of a seeming willingness to push the ball down field was refreshing. Basically, it makes me yearn for a superior combination of the two, if I'm being totally honest.

.....sooooo what you're saying is we need a franchise QB

Walker is not better than Teddy. Walker got lucky vs what is likely the worst defense in the league.

Walker isn’t better than Teddy.   But Walker proved he is a lot better then some here thought.  Better than Grier.  Worthy of his spot.

Teddy is simply consistent.  He remains a KC Alex Smith type.  Which means no one will ever be really happy with him.    Because safe isn’t as fun to watch as a gunslinger.

I would be fine with us releasing Bridgewater after next season and Walker be the backup behind whoever we potentially draft.
PJ Walker made mistakes but it felt good to watch a QB try to score TDs outside the 5 yard line.

Teddy will be here.  We paid him to be.  Especially if we draft a QB.   You want a new QB paired with a Teddy type IMO.

The reason why I said I prefer Walker is because his playstyle will probably be similar to whoever we draft. Like Zach Wilson as a example. If we kept Bridgewater till his 3rd year and Wilson got injured the team would have to completely change the plays called because of how Teddy plays.
Walker you would at least being consistency if he had to go in. The gamelan wouldn’t have to change.
I mean Teddy kinda plays like Brees now so when he went in there wasn’t much the Saints had to change.
It is just a thought.

We now basically run a very close approximation of the Saints system. It's a big reason why Bridgewater suits it so well.

If we draft a quarterback, we'll need to draft somebody who fits that system, i.e. a similar style of quarterback to Bridgewater.

It's a big reason why keeping Bridgewater as a backup makes sense.

What? You mean someone who doesn’t take chances and doesn’t push the ball down the field?
I hope we go in a completely opposite direction from Bridgewater with our next QB.
Give me a gunslinger over boring conservative play any day of the week.

Teddy would have looked great today too. The lions were awful in all phases.  Not much you can take from this

Here's one play where I'd disagree with you. With Bridgewater in the game (especially an 85% healthy TB) this is a sack. I'm glad Rhule and the staff made the call to not put Teddy out there at less than 100%. Good on PJ and DJ for making a play.

We couldn't afford Bridgewater as a backup, nor would he want to be one at this stage of his career. He's proven himself to be a very good starting NFL QB.
