PJ Walker vs Taysom Hill

What Walker did yesterday should dismiss any thoughts of picking up a QB in the late rounds because we have nobody behind Teddy.  I am not saying trotting Walker out there should be viewed like trotting out Young if Montana gets injured, or Rodgers if Favre is out, but that level of depth at QB is almost impossible to pull off these days.  The only way it works is when the depth is the heir-apparent.

Oh please let the Saints go to Hill when Brees is done....

Yep, came here to post about this play lol, this is why you don't always take stats at face value.  Just compare this garbage to the beautiful deep ball from PJ to DJ, yet they both show up similarly on the stat sheet.

I don't know how anyone can watch this team and think "Yeah, QB play is the problem".

Bridgewater has been very good this year. Hopefully he takes the next step and becomes excellent. Even if he doesn't he's leagues above Walker as a QB.

If you can't stretch the field, which Bridgewater cannot, you will be nothing more than a serviceable QB.

I'm not saying PJ is a legit QB but he deserves the chance to outshine Bridgewater.  The guy has all the tools that TB doesn't or won't use.

I think we will see what Rhule is made of and if he will play PJ or show blind loyalty to Teddy to justify the 3 year contract he was given to be the starting QB.

Well I dont think thats a fair statement.

PJ was exciting to watch but his 2 ints in the end zone were killers. If we would have played a half way competent team and lost that would likely have been PJ's 1st and last game. If we want a gun slinger and are ok with bad turn overs then Winston is our guy.

That's why in a rebuild year, we need to see what he has and whether he's really a gunslinger but a turnover machine or if he can get better.  I feel like we already know what Teddy is.

How do you explain Drew Brees' Hall of Fame career?

PJ Walker started at QB for Matt Rhule for 4 years at Temple. He knows exactly what he has in Walker.

leading team into the playoffs...what in the holy hell

this reminds me of when people wanted Anderson or Grier and to bench cam, it’s asinine

we know what Walker is and it’s not a starting qb...two end zone INT vs. the Lions for Christ’s sake

we know all you cam fans have bias hate for TB which is only slightly less creepy for your love for cam but get a grip...pj Walker vs the Lions a legend in the making lol

the answer isn’t on the roster and unless you mean solidifying his spot as #2, no, we don’t need to waste more time on Walker seeing if he is a our next franchise QB

Right but the FO of the Panthers sees this as a very different rebuild than you. They see it as a team that is only a few pieces away. We have a top tier offence and are rebuilding the defense.

This is not a 'blow it all up' rebuild.

Funny rant, but somewhat true..

I'm not gonna bother to search or bump old threads, but one debate I remember having a couple of times this past summer was over saying Sean Payton really believed he could turn Taysom Hill into a starter and win games with him.

Had to clarify a couple of times that I wasn't saying I believed it. I was saying Payton believed it. Also pointed out that his enormous ego was part of the reason.

A lot of people didn't buy it. Heck, even this past week people were saying there was no way he'd go a full game with Hill. They expected Jameis Winston to split reps with him or some such crazy package.

Well, while I don't think yesterday proved that Payton can make Hill a long-term answer (although a few analysts have said that it did) I absolutely think it showed that Peyton genuinely believes it. Hill played a full game, Winston didn't see a single snap, and to top it all off they won.

Never underestimate Sean Payton's ego, guys.
