Bridgewater "running out of time"

This season is about the record I expected.   At times, the team was better than I thought we'd be, other times I expected more out of the offense (but granted, no CMC).    Teddy has been what I expected, he's totally average, but he's overpaid sadly and too many years.    He's not the answer to get over the hump in what the NFL is today.    We really really should be letting PJ and Grier get in some to see what they have but now we have three games against decent teams so it's not fair, they should have been in there earlier.

I'm kind of worried about Rhule and some Rivera-ish decisions like this but hopefully he's just keeping things on the downlow.

I really don't think he's overpaid based on what he is delivering. The guy is like the 17th highest paid QB this year out of 32 starters. He's playing like the 14th or 15th best QB in the league.

We're getting what we paid for.

Maybe by stats, but I'd argue that he's near the bottom of the league in terms of outcome and performance when it matters most.

Won't argue against that.

Overall though, the contract really isn't that horrible. We have him next year as well, and then after that we can cut him loose with next to no penalty.

Draft a QB this draft and have him learn under Teddy. Give him the keys and bench Teddy when the rookie is ready. Profit.

I kinda want Teddy to finish the year so Rhule has to bear witness to his own incompetence. He might end being up a decent coach but he is awful when it comes to qb evaluation....awful.

I don't understand how the last 3 games are going to show us something different from Bridgewater that he hasn't already shown throughout his career. He is who he is. Three games isn't going to change that. If it does and Rhule falls for it and it costs us a chance at getting a real QB, then he is a fool and shouldn't be our head coach.

Lol, because PJ actually won a game, I think the front office is aware that's it's ''hold out guys that could play with nagging'' injuries time. Green Bay, Washington, and New Orleans are our next three games.

PJ could mess around and beat WAS, and ruin positioning IMO, because he actually stresses the defense with vertical ability. I tried to buy in to TB being able to execute the vertical attempts, but it's too inconsistent and we are wasting offensive potential.

I'm hoping we land Lance, arm, athleticism, NFL size. I'm not sold on Wilson, he's as small as TB, and feels over-hyped I get the Blaine Gabbert, Clausen feels with him.

I think Rivera is gonna eat Rhules lunch no matter who plays qb. We shall see.

Profit? How is 42M for 4 wins this year and a placeholder next year profit? As opposed to the many holes on the roster that could have been filled with that money?

Let me just get this straight, were we planning on getting a lot of wins this season?

Just checking because back in the preseason we were pretty much all expecting, and okay with, us getting maybe four wins. Well, here we are.

And did anyone expect Teddy Bridgewater to be the long-term starting QB? I don't think anyone really was. He was, and is, a good enough QB to give a chance at a fair evaluation of our offensive talent. Last season, between Kyle Allen hitting his peak early and then having a massive drop off, the disappointment that is Wil Grier and the last ride of wet noodle armed Cam Newton, paired with lousy, lousy, lousy offensive and overall coaching, there was no way to judge offensive weaponry short of checking to see who had received AARP membership forms.

What have we learned with Teddy at the WB position? Samuel and Moore can both tear open a game and Samuel gives some great options on the game. Robby Anderson was a gem of a find. Curtis Samuel is Mr. Third Down. CMC is an amazing weapon when on the field. Mike Davis is a find at the RB2 position. We have no talent at all at TE. Our offensive line is a bare cupboard that can kinda run block but wears down and gives up too many sacks and pressures. We've also found out that Joe Brady when stalking the sidelines is slow to get in calls and might have a problem with vapor lock in stressful situations. Oh yeah, our kicker has a massive leg but might not be terribly clutch. Our punting team can pull off some excellent trick plays but has the same coverage problems we saw under Rivera and Co. (same special teams coach... just saying).

We've also found that even though we have a very young defense, our defensive coordinator has spent most of the season game planning as if it was a bunch of old ladies out there. Three man rushes, eight in coverage and we still couldn't get passing teams off the field, much less anyone with a decent run game. Un-aggressive defenses led to shoot out games with just about every team we faced this year shy of the Lions (the one game where we blitzed and played with aggression.

Look, we weren't supposed to win a lot of games this year, and we haven't. Teddy wasn't expected to come in and be Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rogers. He was going to be the fourth best QB in our division (and strangely, that's not a slight). He was here to provide some stability while everything worked out. And if a great QB prospect fell to us in the 2021 draft then he'd be expected to bring the kid up to speed and take to the bench. And if the best player we could get was a non-QB, then you run with Teddy again.

Still, it just nags at me, but I have to say it: in those seven losses with one score separations... any one of those could have been won if the defense had just gotten one more stop.

well, I'm still a firm believer Teddy was brought in first and foremost to help install and get an offensive scheme up and running.   Teddy speeds that up for folks knowing it.

I was saying we profit when we start the new QB. No profit right now.

Starting a rookie QB while paying another 23M is not profit. That’s around 30M for the position. At 42M, they have basically taken thrown away two years of the advantage of having a QB on a rookie deal before even finding that rookie QB.

Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, and coaching.  Teddy actually threw 4 touchdowns in one of those games

And it was at home against Tampa who had the worst pass D in the league at the time. I kept telling people that you can’t look at the outlier. He wasn’t close to Brees’ production and in the other 5 games he played full games in, he had 5 TDs. So, even in the 6 games he played for NO, he had 1 aberration and 5 1TD games just like in Minnesota and just like with us. Difference is that NO has a solid D as seen this year and a solid OL.

Still can’t believe that people in here thought he’d throw for 4K and 30TDs. He’s got a phenomenal set of WRs who get open and have great after the catch ability and he’s still 1 TD a game because he doesn’t have it. We saw a mediocre QB in Lock taking chances when players were open. He’s got 2 rookies leading his WRs and he showed more yesterday than Teddy has all year and I don’t think Lock will ever be a stud.
