Changing tunes on Moton?

I was really hoping the narrative on this would shift with Hurney's firing. Retaining Moton should be our #1 in-house priority. Last year's should've been Bradberry and we fuged that up.

From the article...

That list of free agents includes the team's top priority in free agency, right tackle Taylor Moton. He won't be cheap, but could be kept from the market before it even opens.

Joe Person threw out a percentage (30%) that he would return.  Immediately that was a red flag---he was speculating and it was very careless journalism.  Nothing but click bait---under no circumstance does Moton walk.  As I said a few weeks ago (and a few others as well), if you look at the dead money, KK's salary, etc.  There is room to sign Moton.  They just wanted to see how the cap would be adjusted---and they are still doing that.

Joe Person speculates often to generate clicks. Calling him a journalist is a joke.

Yep/he used to get scooped by some reporter at the Baltimore Sun about Panther news when he was at the Observer--I used to work in the Sports news room at the observer and made some friends that I still chat with--he had ZERO peer respect there--a joke.

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
