I love this for the tank crowd. it is a rare occurrence, extremely frowned upon, with no positive results.

good on Rhule for not ruining the integrity of the game or fugging with dudes play time to improve draft positioning.

Tanking doesn't exist.

Mike McCarthy lasted 6 years I think after his SB win.  This would certainly be pretty fast.

i am from PA and most of my family are Eagles fans.  They are tired of Pederson.  They claim he can’t develop players, can’t make adjustments, and had piss poor game management.

I'm guessing a lot of people at this point are thinking his Super Bowl win might have just been a perfect storm.

That's a lot of people's take on Gruden in Tampa. Lord knows they only went downhill after 2002.

No one around the league would have noticed or cared if the Panthers benched Bridgewater for the Washington game for Will Grier. Panthers had a sure bet to tank on the bench.

Of fuging course they would. Good God dude. Our players would have been furious and let down.

Folks about the "one size fits all" version of tanking---there is a huge difference between deciding to play your future players and get them some game experience and do some talent evaluation while trying to win, but realizing that you are probably sacrificing the chance for a W.  On the Huddle, FANS were hoping the team would lose to get a better draft pick, realizing that it would/could benefit the long-term success of the team.

This was a case of a coach who deliberately THREW the game on NATIONAL TV by making in-game decisions that sabatoged the team's chance to win.  He was trying to lose and he betrayed his players.  The difference between the FANS wanting the team to lose through productive player evaluation while trying to win and the COACH throwing the game is significant, and apparently LOST on some of you.

That mid-game decision to bench Jalen Hurts might just end up costing Doug Pederson his job.

See, I would have expected that if he was going to pull a stunt like that, he'd have done it with ownership's approval (or at least the blessing of the GM).

If Pederson made that move on his own, oh boy was that stupid!

^ was going to say that...would think that he had orders from above.

There's no difference between the situations you are depicting. That's an incredibly weak attempt there to justify wanting to tank.

There's no way Pederson did that on his own accord. If he gets fired it's a straight up scapegoating. Hell, for all we know maybe the direction from above was to tank the game and he didn't agree with it so he was decided to make it as blatantly obvious as possible.

I wouldn't think so, but how do you fire him for something you told him to do?

Gotta figure it'd be extremely hard to keep that a secret.
