Don't underestimate them overplaying their hand here. How often do we see terrible management make bad decisions in these situations and not be able to get maximum market value? We have to remember that if Watson basically tells a team or two that they are basically the destination or makes that publicly known, that immediately tanks the trade value for Watson. There will be no bidding war for him because he can veto anything.

I honestly don't think the Texans will get the bounty that people are projecting them to. It's also possible that they decide to go nuclear option and let Watson rot on the bench for a year. They've already been dumb so far, so maybe they keep being dumb.

He said the Jets and Dolphins were being publicly discussed, he didn't say the Texans were game to work a deal with them.

This would fill in some of the 15 or more holes this teams needs to desperately fill in so bad, G.

And, it would be able to fill those holes faster, for less money towards the cap, with more players to sift through as the right insert for the role, DUDE.

We could pick for the next 10-15 years and never find a QB near Watsons level.  A top 5 QB that could be here for another 10 years is way more valuable than 3 first round picks.  Watson is more valuable than Trevor Lawrence IMO because he is a known commodity.  Losing CMC would suck but Watson has much more value.

The idea is to use larger capitol (hence 1st rounder) and trade down for decent capitol (2nd and 3rd, 2nd and 4th, 3rd and 4th etc) 

Instead of trading down 2nd round picks for fifth rounders and similar situations.

This is def a possible outcome. If I was Nick Caserio... i'd quit though. That completely hamstrings him from being able to do his job. Also, other players would ask for their release or trade as well if they chose to do that.

2nd round picks dont trade down for 5th rounders.... 2nd round picks trade for future first rounders, and additional 2nd rounders. I think you are thinking inside your own box, and not using real life examples. Here is one:

Yeah, he may have his hands full putting this franchise back together after all this is done. Keep in mind that this could get a LOT worse depending on the coaching situation. If the rumor mill is correct and this is viewed as the worst HC job in the league, their top level choices may not be interested. 

So, now you have a roster with guys that want to leave, including one of the best young QB's in the league with a huge contract containing a no trade clause. Now pile on a less than stellar coach and a team not many guys that are trying to win are going to be interested in signing with in free agency. 

That team could quickly become the worst franchise in the NFL.

He didn't say the Texans were game to do a deal with us either, but we're running with it as if he did.

Heck, all he basically said was "maybe the Panthers are an option too".

We aren't even close to what the Bucs were prior to this past offseason. That team was absolutely loaded with talent and ready to win. Our roster is so far from that.

      His physical attributes aren't going to change on a new team so I have no idea how he would pan out elsewhere but I can logically assume those issues he has had with processing which was supposed to be his key selling point before the draft would follow him. He was also supposed to be someone who thrives when the play breaks down but he has been inconsistent at best on that and at times horrific. I think where we each take a fork in the road on the determination of Bryce Young currently is you seem to still be treating him as a rookie and not a third year QB still repeating the same mistakes while showing that he has no arm talent to overcome even the slightest bit of adversity. I've said all along his rookie year and his sophomore season that I would be willing to overlook his interceptions if he was pushing the ball downfield consistently and even if he turned the ball over forcing a pass here and there to keep defenses honest I would accept it. But he has nothing. There is no deep passing game here. He threw the ball 55 times in Arizona which was 30 more times than Kyler Murray and only had a little over 100 more passing yards than him. Legitimately you should read that again and ponder it. That is embarrassingly atrocious. Circumstances here are not ideal with the WR's and OL but we cannot normalize this. It is horrendous. And we need to swallow our pride and begin scouting QB's for the 2026 draft. In the meantime this cannot continue on much longer for the sake of the locker room. And the upcoming schedule isn't going to get any better. If there is a silver lining to any of this we are going to find out just who Dave Canales really is throughout the rest of the season. He isn't getting a pass either.
