Lavar says Melo is not happy

That is a hell of a strawman.

The only valid rebuttal is if Graham's defense is worse, which the proof for that was lauding Ball's obvious playmaking ability?

The kid's gonna start eventually. Right now, the big question is whether or not he can improve upon his defense.

Is it? When you have 2 players who are bad defensively, but one player is clearly better in all other aspects of the game, it doesn’t make much sense to say the better player doesn’t start because of his defense.

Besides that, it also assumes he is a worse defender than Graham, but is he? Graham’s DBPM is -1, Lamelo’s is 0.9. So Lamelo is actually better.

Air Dolt took full control of all basketball operations when he came on in June of 2006.

"On June 15, 2006, Jordan announced he had bought a minority stake of the Charlotte Bobcats. As part of the deal, Jordan was named Managing Member of Basketball Operations and given full control over the basketball side of the team operation."

Thats just full control over a part of the team. He took full control in 2010.

I don't give a single solitary fug if LaMelo is happy right now or not It's not the job of the coach to make him happy, it's to be fair. The vast majority of people here are already on their knees to kiss his ass, but if you start taking lineup advice from an 18 year old kid, you've already lost. He's the new GM. Half of the mission with taking this kid was the fact that he was going to have to be humbled and learn how to be a good teammate and that comes with maturity. I was disgusted in his first attempt at the triple double how he passed up a wide open shot in a close game in favor of a bad shot because he wanted the assist to get there. That's the kind of garbage we never need to see again. Being a rookie in this league, you're going to have to earn your burn. Coming into the game and trying to force things and turning the ball over is not going to get you MORE playing time. I am very glad that Borrego is standing on principles here because this ain't LaMelo's team yet. It will be soon, but not today. He was like -26 or some garbage with the second unit last game when all the starters were plus. He's about 1 minute per game behind Anthony Edwards and about 3 ahead of James Wiseman. People acting like he's been stapled to the bench need to get real about it. This is how you break rookies into the league.

And I hate to say this so early, but unless something changes drastically regarding this kid's ego, he's going to be out of here before his rookie deal is up. Charlotte isn't big enough to produce the clout he thinks he's already earned. That was the danger with this pick even if you believed in the talent.

27 pts, 9 assists in only 31 minutes against the Bucks. His plus/minus was +37

He needs to start

I can see both arguments. It may be better for him in the long run to not start this year, but if we are trying to win games and make the playoffs this year then we need to start him and have him playing 30-35+ minutes every night as he gives us our best chance to win.

    • We won 5 with the worst defense in the history of defenses.  I think free agency and our draft puts us over 6.5.
    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
    • I think there's a ton of potential in that WR room. But they really are unproven right now. Hopefully they live up to the hype.
