Teams already reaching out to Detroit for Stafford

I already told the board this, Stafford is held among elite in real NFL circles. Golden Tate who play with Russie Wilson, Eli Manning, and Full soul Carson Wertz. He said Stafford was the best QB. Its very very hard to take the QB out of the team and judge him. Lions hold fault for many of Staffords "issues".

He still has quite a zip and has always been able to launch rockets.  Crazy to think he's only a year older than Cam. Been steady at ~65% with throwing a lot of bombs to Golladay and Jones.

It is pretty damn interesting to consider how he would do with a guy like CMC on his team.  He's never had that before.

Let me ask you guys, what makes you think Stafford would want to come to the Panthers?

I just don't see it

Best RB in football, two stud WR, potentially a 3rd. If he watches our games which I’m sure he would if we’re serious. He’ll know he could have at least won 5 of the 7 games Teddy lost with the game on the line.

True... off the top of my head Colts jump out as making the most sense.

Lions have to be happy with the  compensation though and that's where we might have advantage if we offer more

Also with Brees done and Brady potentially retiring after a SB win the South could be ripe for the taking

We have to be realistic here, Lions and Panthers both won 5 games last year.

Why would Stafford want out from a bad team to join another bad/rebuilding team??

If we're talking teams on the cusp/playoff ready without a QB, then you look to LAR, Indy & NO.  There's no way in hell they're shipping him to Chicago.

Otherwise, we're in a much better spot than WFT, Philly, NE, HOU, DEN.  Though if I had to guess, think Denver gets him at the end of the day.  He's very much the type they look for.

Let's see

Lions:

Just now blowing up and starting over with a new regime.

Little to no weapons

Defense, no young core pieces that have stood out.

Panthers:

Already began the rebuild

#1 RB in the NFL

#2 WR that's better than Detroit's #1

3 key young core defensive players under the age of 23

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
